Hi! Guys,
I need your help in how to install themes in Linux. Must first say that am a newbie in Linux. The distribution am using is Ubuntu Linux 6.06 (Draper Drake?).Downloaded a theme from http://www.gnome-look.org/ .I downloaded a Mac OS theme (http://www.gnome-look.org/content/show.php?content=13548 ). They told me to copy it to /themes directory but I do not have any idea where this /theme folder is located. I searched for it and \user\themes (I am not sure?) but in that directory the paste button is inactive. People please help, in installing this theme. How do I do it? |

Just use the GNOME theme manager in the Control Panel and it should have a button call "Add new Theme" (if I remember correctly, I don't use GNOME much, I use KDE)

Sorry, I don't know really how to install themes on GNOME, I've only used it a bit just for basic maintenance.
To install KDE, you can just simply type in a console: apt-get install kubuntu-desktop xboxrulz |

look here : http://www.ubuntuforums.org/archive/index.php/t-169602.html
(obtained from http://www.google.fr/search?hl=fr&q=ho...buntu&meta= ) They say : QUOTE > > Download the theme to your desktop and then put it in a theme folder in > your home file. Next open:System>Preferences>Theme. Click on Install > Theme, and point it to your theme folder, and it will install > automatically. Even easier - just drag and drop the theme tarball onto the Theme dialogue - it installs automatically Or install "gnome-art" and browse through a whole list of themes etc. Hope this helped Yordan |

QUOTE Do I need to have an internet connection to install KDE ?? You need to have KDE in order to install it. If you have it on your Linux CD, you can install it from the CD. If you have internent, you can download it. If you don't have internet, go on a computer which has internet, download the KDE software, go back to your computer and install KDE... |
