I used to use Winamp, it was so user-friendly and easy to use. Very easy to add tracks and create playlists. Now I use Windows Media Player. It's not as user-friendly, but I like its slick interface.

I have used RealPlayer, Windows Media Player, Winamp, Jet Audio. Amongh these winamp is better. But the best is Quinessential Player whihc I have found just some months back. It is amazing media player. I can't think of a player other than it whose interface is easier than it. The sound quality is also very good and it is also takes very less RAM.
Although it is not very famous but give a try to it and you will love it.

Media players aren't something I look into that much. As long as it plays music I am happy. Windows Media Player came preinstalled so I just sort of left it at that. I also have RealPlayer as it was needed to listen to certain radio stations. I'll probably look into it sometime and try out new ones but right now I am just sticking music on my MP3 Player and listening to them off the Hi-Fi.

My favourite media players.

well i use a few. i use itunes for windows, windows media player and real player. i use itunes for my music and i use windows media player and real player for my videos. it depends what the website offers. like i watch a few different things and sometimes i watch live cam, live cam will use media player where as most downloaded movies and videos will use my Real Player.

I like to listen to music alot so itunes is probably my favourite, then tagging along in second is media player followed by real player.

I use winamp, it's, as said before, very user friendly and it has a lot of functions. Not the professional functions, but you can search your song very easy and quickly. You can make playlist and add whole maps. You can also shuffle and repeat and change the EQ. For videos i mostly use windows media player 10.

Frankly, other then for MP3 music I just use whatever windows defaults too usually (unless a problem arises). As far as media playback is concerned, it isn't important enough for me to rank it "actually put effort into it" worthy haha

Hmm thats a good question. Well i have all my music on a mac mini so i use iTunes for that i love the compatability with burning cds in all sorts of formats and all that. The only bad thing about that is the hard disk size in the mini its going to run out soon i think. Then for movies i use quicktime or windows media player.

I use iTunes. I love how everything is very organized and you have the options of arranging things how you want them (artist, song title, bitrate, etc.)
I only use Windows Media Player for movies, unless its a Real file, or a Quicktime file, I kinda let the computer handle that and open it where it wants to

well i mainly use Windows Media Player just because its the easiest for me... but one of the sites i visit a lot has an internet radio station and i use Winamp to listen to that.,.... but 99.9% of the time its WMP for me :P

I like to use coolplayer since it's small, skinnable, and doesn't interfere with any other open programs. I used to use WMP but it lagged my comp horribly and would stop responding constantly. Not to mention, I somehow got a few bugs from a WMP 9 update :/

I use a variety of players, can't say which one is better though. I like to use PowerDVD for my dvds of course. For avi and all those sorts, I like windows media player 10, it's pretty nice for me. Then I have BS player, it's like my other one I rarely use, but like it though. Then I have VLC player, for when I like to configure things around.

I would have to say winamp is my favorite media player. Not only is it easy to create playlists and add music to the library, but it has some pretty good plugins as well. The ipod plugin is very useful, as well as a lyrics database plugin i found.

for dvds i use windvd platinum6. i tried the version 7 but was disappointed with several "bugs" that at least on my computer made watching a movie unpleasant. the window would resize on startup to a strange angle, the sound had major echos when trying to boost volume, and occasionally would go off altogether, and only come back when i restarted the program. then one day it just decided to stop working completely. so i swtiched back to version 6. for my audio files i use winamp 5. the visualizations are great, the vast amount of plugins beats anything else, and the great skins available make it IMO the best there is.

For playing mp3s, I prefer to use Winamp. I find that it doesnt use a lot of memory so I can always have it in the background. However for movies or video, I find Windows Media Player to be very useful. Just the fact that it will play most files if I have the correct codec installed. However for streaming videos from the internet, I prefer to use Quicktime. I find that the image quality is better but not all websites use it so I'm content with WMP. I however refuse to use RealPlayer or anything associated with it since there generally is a Windows Media alternative to the content I need to view.

When I'm on my Mac I use iTunes, and it is great. But one I like that most people probably don't use is one called Creative MediaSource. It is software that came with my Creative MuVo TX FM MP3 player. It has a lot of good features for recording, and can record the stereo output from your computer, so if you need to convert a file but it doesnt seem to be working, just play it in a compatible media player while recording stereo out with MediaSource. In my opinion, it is a great program that most people don't get to use. If you want to try it out, you would have to buy a Creative MP3 player, although they are a good brand of mp3 players...

I like windows media player, but I find myself having to use all the different players whenever I get online media. I listen to all my music on windows media player, but videos I have to watch in whatever format they are in. I really wish they would all stick to one thing, rater than making me go out and download 5 different programs.

Im a winamp junkie. I love the sound effects it auto ads, like fade instead of abrupt stop. Also its wide range of support is great, havent ever had to download extra codecs for winamp.

I use Beep Media Player for music, found it really good and i don't really need millions of features on a player. :)

   Sun Jul 17, 2005    Reply

I use Quicktime for videos and stuff. For everything else I pretty much just use Windows Media Player.

Mine must be JetAudio Basic. It's free, innovative and way much better than all other media players I've seen.
I also use Irfanview, which seems to be able to handle practically any type of media, be it images or sound.

I use videolan to play almost all my files except mp3 which i use winamp to do that. Videolan is the one stop shop because it plays mp3s aswell but for sentimental reasons i use winamp. It may not be pleasing on the eyes but thats wat makes it so portable. Another cool feature of Videolan is that in the even of a new codec being released all you have to do is download the latest version of it and install it sets up everything, another great feature which i find extremely useful is it plays corrupt or unfinished .avi files and also mounts .cue .bin files so no need for daemon tools or alcohol which makes life alot easier.

I like Media Player Classic, it's just like Windows Media Player without all the crap I never use.

   Tue Jul 26, 2005    Reply

winamp is by far the best I have come across.

I use Dell Jukebox for music, Real player for avi. files, Windows media player for mpeg, and Power DVD for dvd's.
Nero showtime also supports lots of formats.

I simply love Winamp. Loads of plug-ins, loads of skins, loads of users, secure, loads of file support (DRM!).

   Sun Aug 14, 2005    Reply

Winamp for the music and most movie-files, mediaplayer classic for realmedia stuff and finally BS-player for the more advanced movies (subtitles and multiple audiostreams etc.)
