The only other FTP manager I use is the one built in to Macromedia Dreamweaver. I use it just because it's there, and it's convienent even if it's not as fast as FileZilla.
Although I havn't tried it, or have had a use for it, there is also a FileZilla FTP server available.
As I mentioned above, FileZilla is completely free, and has a Development Status of 5. (Meaning a stable production version has been released!) Filezilla was written in C++ and is available on Windows 95/98/NT/2000/XP.
In case you don't favor the english language, FileZilla is also available in French, German, Hungarian, Polish, and Spanish!
I would like to hear what everybody else uses, and maybe I will try them out to see what they're like.
it isnt that great though..im going to check out your filezilla... that mutifile transfer thing would be useful... i dont know why it isnt in most of them..
hate running several intances of the same program to upload mutiple files..
Very powerfull to keep my astahost.com web-site synchronous !
Easy drag-drop actions.
Does multiple transfers with the files in a transfer queue.
Does simultaneous transfers - configurable.
Recommended !
Well, I certainly would not even imagine paying for an FTP program. The command line ftp program in linux is good enough for me. I don't see why there would be much selectivity for such a simple program. For windows I have used WS_FTP and WS_FTP95 for years. but when I made the web page here, I thought it might not be working so I downloaded and tried SmartFTP. Ok fancier but so what, as long as my files get where I want them to go.
It seems to work ok, had a few problems with it from time to time but has served me well otherwise.
Have used cute_ftp and WSftp_pro at work too

I would like to hear what everybody else uses, and maybe I will try them out to see what they're like.it's almost ironic, but the FTP i use is the one that's integrated within HTML-Kit. if you havent heard of HTML-Kit before, I STRONGLY STRONGLY recommend you give it a try. it's 100% free, but i don't know why becuase it is seriously the best coding program I have ever used. you can find it at http://www.chami.com

I used to use WS_FTPLE when I was still on the PC, but since I've moved over to the Mac I've been trying out quite a few different FTP managers. The one I currently use is CyberDuck, which is really good. It's freeware, gets updated often, uses the concept of "bookmarking" your individual accounts and shows the bookmarks in a easy-to-access drawer. It can change permissions, and it uses an "Upload" and "Download" concept instead of having two windows, which is what RBrowserLite does, one window shows your target, one window shows your home folder. Oh yeah and it can upload entire folders at one go too, and you can apply permission changes recursively, so i can make everything in one folder, including subfolders and subfolder contents, all 777 with one click. Very convenient.
free
fast
simple
easy to use
Sile zilla is definately one of those that I would not be without and am quite pleased with it.
I have used it earlier and it is a very good tool. It has all the features of an paid FTP client. I have stop to use it when it has gone paid.
But it is good that it is free once again.

For all interesting in FTP managers I would like to tell that the good free FTP client SmartFTP which has been made paid by the owner is now free once again for non commercial use.I have used it earlier and it is a very good tool. It has all the features of an paid FTP client. I have stop to use it when it has gone paid.
But it is good that it is free once again.
That is what I use (SmartFTP). It has all my favorite/frequently used FTP sites saved and the some useful functions. I guess it gets the job done. All I really need it for is uploading and downloading things to servers and occassionally renaming and deleting files. Long time ago I used WS_FTP.

used to use WS_FTPLE when I was still on the PCIt seems like a nice program - with a nice looking account wizard. However, I should try out that FileZilla. That company is going too popular!! Heh, I think they are looking at all the programs and just putting them into style-and-a-couple-better-and-more-features-than-the-original stuff. Hey, it's just a thought! XD
But anyway, is the multi-file uploading a new feature? I've never seen that before. Or maybe it's something secret..? So it means if I have broadband, it will take me less than a minute to upload a hundred pictures? Well, something like that. But you get the idea...
ughhh .. no one seems to be using that much eh ? .. well depends .. i like it cause m used to layout and options and besides its better for ppl like me behind a proxy lol .. i use to use WS_FTP but umm .. it used to get d/c even when i used the proxy settings in it .. but i still use BulletProof FTP Server if i have to use my Comp as a FTP Machine ..
The WS_FTP I use is pretty old but it works fine for me.
Unfortunately, from that moment I was unable to login to astahost forum from that PC, I will have to reinstall this PC. Because it's not acceptable to be unable to login to astahost !
By the way, is there something in astahost that prevents loggin in from a ftp server ?

I use WS_FTP PRO. It works well although for some reason, after a while I start gettin errors saying "WS_FTP has not been configured properly", so all I do is reinstall it and the problem is solved. Other than that, its a great little program, you can have multiple tabs open, which is really cool for managing more than one site and its really easy to use. This problem is solved by a patch that is in distribution of version 5.0.
The patch is upgrade version to 5.04
Take care about upgrading your version just ready in time! It's very usefull cause is about your security!
Whatch this out:
Changes in 5.04 Hotfix 1
- Added callback routine to SSLSVC.DLL to allow us to verify there is data on
the socket before the eay libraries do a blocking read. This corrects
the issue where the a lost connection during a file upload using SSL
would cause server leave the connection open and the file locked.
- Rebuilt the eay libararies statically linked to runtime libraries to match
the rest of the FTP Server. If this linking method doesn't match there
can be memory allocation/freeing issues which may result in a crash.
Changes in 5.04
- Corrected Buffer overflow security vulnerability reported at:
http://isc.sans.org/diary.php?date=2004-12-05
http://www.k-otik.com/exploits/20041130.IP...P-exploit.c.php
http://secunia.com/advisories/13334/
- Corrected permissions issue where root folder permissions were not applied
correctly if the host's root folder was not the root directory on a hard drive.
