Hey guys.

Just wanted to apologise to you all for the way that I acted on IRC yesterday.

Here is a full reason for what got my anger so high yesterday:

  1. The bots are annoying.
  2. MSE, please lay off the Masskicks and bans
  3. MSE, please don't always have to have the last word, we are all friends here
  4. MSE, I am glad that you registered the channel, but relenquish some control to the rest of the mods.
  5. MSE, please as I did yesterday, if you ever have a problem with something that one of us does, please take it to a personal message through IRC. The main thing that pissed me off is the public questioning of my trying to clean up the language. To give you a few reasons, my son was in the room for most of the foul language, and now thanks to QOP, he is using the foul language. HE IS 7. That pisses me off more than anything. We have thirteen year olds that come to the site, lets please at least enforce a no foul language policy.

As you can see most of my anger centered at one person, and their attitude towards the rest of the mods.

I have since calmed down. I apologise MSE for some of the things that I said. I tried to let the issues die, but you had to keep making comments. I am older than you and have learned a little sercet from life. Let things die. Okay, Still friends?

Ohh.. I dont know what happened between you and M^E, But I hope things will be sorted out and we all behave in a much mature manner. First of all I would like to apologise to the management for my absense. I won't be able to look after the forums much atleast for a month. I was very much busy with my sites till now and was struggling hard to get them on top.. but things are getting tight day by day and the educational part of my life is getting worse. I have a huge load on my head and hence, I have to give more priority to that.

As for the IRC, I actually wanted to advice all the management staff to behave in a professional manner ( as being a part of management ). But I also understand that its more difficult to get together in such an envoirnment. I want the mods and admins to know each other and get togther so that you can have more innovative ideas and plans to make this place better.

Wwheeler, you being a MODERATOR of Astahost yourself and M^E, Should understand that its not good that you people flame against each other. I would sincerely request you to kindly clear each others misunderstanding. We want to work as a group. A small weak link is enough to break an entire system. Also, Its my sincere request that please do not use Slang language. You people represent this sites management. Your actions and behaviour holds the reputation of this forum. And lets not give others a chance to say anything about us or the management. And M^E, Being a Root Admin and responsible for my Mods, I appologise on wwheeler's behalf for his language and actions.

About the IRC,
I think M^E has done a very wonderful ( rather Great ) Job by setting up the IRC and the BOTS. I sincerely thank him for that, but we should realise that he is trying to help us by donating some time from his busy life. Doing all these things is not his job or anything. We all are trying to do a service. I am sure he is improving the system day by day. Setting up the bots and configuring them is difficult and it does require time.

If any of you people have any problems against each other, Please put it forward at the admin section, Or PM me or Nilsc so that we can discuss the matter and sort out the things together.

Sincerely,
OpaQue

I don't have much to add about yesterday's events in IRC, I do agree with OpaQue on the professional stuff. We just need to adjust and get used to each other more I think :)

Anyhow, OpaQue, it's ok that you can't be here as much as you want to be ;) School does come first (and with your majors, I sure can understand it ;) also you got a realy mean evil teacher) Don't worry, I am sure this minor issue will be sorted in no time. We'll keep this joint safe and smooth ;) After all that is why we got the [MODERATOR] as group ;)

Wwheeler, don't worry. I am sure it's ok. That's the reason I left during the meeting, I felt I was going to blow up LOL (would have been nasty and awfully messy too LOL)

Sooo, I'll see ya in IRC I hope :(

I should add in here too - my sincerest apologies too being so uptight about the whole issue. And wwheeler you should have told me straight out that your son's in the room - I wouldn't have entertained any of that crap under such circumstances. I guess it was just a stupid misunderstanding - or should I say, a lack of communication. Even I'm not at all supportive of using foul langauage in a public channel. Anyways, my point is - the fact that I registered the channel doesn't mean anything - it's an open channel and the primary reason for opening was to allow more closer bonding between all of us - besides being a quicker means of providing support. The bot's are there partly for fun and for channel protection as well. But that's besides the point - lets just all drop this and be friends again. All this wouldn't lead to anything but unnecessary trouble. We've already got a great board running - lets all strive together to make this SIMPLY THE BEST :)

And next time wwheeler - just tell me flat out what the scenario is - I don't have psychic abilities you know :( ( besides, even though I'm very calm normally, I tend to get very stubborn at times, if things are pushed onto me all of a sudden)... There's no reason I wouldnt have complied had you told me so.. Matter dropped - forgotten. Now let's get back to bl00dy irc and have fun again ;)

P.S. About the bot's just give me a little time dude.. I haven't touched this stuff in past 4 years and it's become a little rusty. But they're improving - at least way better than what we had for first 2-3 days. Just bear with me with a triffle bit more patience and all will be fine. And anybody bringing in a new bot into any of these channels - please let us know - so that we can make them join what is known as the BOTNET (Trekkie and my bot are already in it) - so that none of that op/deop nonsense occurs and they all work harmoniously together. ;)

And yeah sorry to wwheeler too. Yup still friends. I never hold back onto any kind of grudges. ;) Peace !

Hmm...Well I missed w.e happened yesterday...And I'm kind of glad from what I've read about it :(

I was affraid that something liek this would happen, where it starts out as a small fight...But then grows to a much larger scale of flamming.

I hope that we can put the past behind us and continue forward...

But just a suggestion...

I think we should have to seperate irc channels....

One for the professional questions...And one where we can just do and say w.e we want...Whilst respecting eachother of course.

Oh well...Hopefully things all work out.

Also, don't worry about not being around Opaque...School can be quite stressfull...I myself have to read 50pages of history tonight for a test 2morrow...and It's 11:46pm for me right now ;)

Ah well though. I might go on irc l8r tonight...

I can be a mod in the irc and tell people not to flame :)

Actually I have an idea they use on DALnet help, when someone asks for support, we voice them and change the channel to +m that way they can get help while everyone else is quiet and no monkeying around while helping, then we -m when support has been given.

And you know what? I think this "fight" thing will end up becoming something positive. Because this started OPEN and honest communication, which is what we need. Especially since for some of us English is not our first language, we all are of different age groups (no pun intended to those younger or older), we also come from different cultures at times. This is a way for us to prove that some folks are so wrong in saying that all ages can't work together as one group :)

Communication is the key to every relationship - be it professional or something else (I am NOT touching the something else LOL). Also I think a closed channel for mods and admins would do well - changes in anything should be posted here - in perhaps a seperate subforum for the STAFF. Because after all, we're not all on IRC at the same time :(

This will work out fine, guys (and girls). I am sure we can make it work and rock like nothing before ;)

Kewl. I just felt bad, and thought that I should apologise.

It's not much I have to add to this (I’ll know if it’s true when I’m done typing) except to say that I started on my speech in mIRC to try to get us all to step back and get a wider picture of what was going on. I know I typed for about 5 minutes but don't ask me what I said. I know I didn't swear but if I offended anyone accept my apology.

We should think about the approach we had to this situation and find a way to prevent it from happening again. I think the way to do it is for us to not stay as @ admin, if we have something we don't agree on, set +v and -o and then speak and say what we don't agree to and why we don't agree. If anyone in the group feel the need to answer the person, do the same and set your status to +v and -o, sounds like a stupid suggestion but it's the only way I think we can take a breath and think before we answer.

Sometimes by showing a little humility we show the greatest strength and by restraining what we say and do to each other we will stay friends. The only places we know each other from are here on this forum and on mIRC. We are a bunch of pixels and to no great length can we say we truly know the person on the other end. I know OpaQue from here and I consider him a friend, the rest I met here when I was made admin. I have to say I respect all of you and I think we are doing a great job with the forum and this community. I don't think what happened in the channel was an indication on the type of people we are but rather an indication that we are individuals with a wide variety of knowledge, interests and opinions. So what may be fun to one of us may just irritate another. So we need to look at this as our world, we are here today, we are not family, not close friends, or someone that we know will cover our backs if something go wrong. What we are, is a group of people with similar interests when it comes to web sites and web site building and because of circumstance (we all help out and was noticed) we got the job of moderator or for me and ms^e we got the job admin. To me the title mean nothing more than I have to try even harder to answer questions and to find a solution for a user or member.

I know most of you have more knowledge when it comes to web sites and building them or to help solve other users problems, but my point is I know I have the guts to stand up for what I did. Be it right or be it wrong, I have apologized if I make a mistake. I have retracted statements said because I read a post but did not READ it. So we should treat each other as equals if not as friends and respect each others point of view even though we don’t have to agree.

We all have a voice, we all have the right to an opinion, we all have the right to disagree with an opinion. We only have to respect each other and if necessary ask ourselves why did this come up. Did I misunderstand or was I misunderstood.

Thank you
Nils

I think that sometimes some arguements just can't be settled. I've always heard people around me arguing (well, they're kids, they don't know any better) about things that cannot be argued upon and have a side win. For example, religion is something that can't be argued on. It's something that one person believes, and the other person will not ever have the power to change what one thinks. If you keep on doing it, the arguement will eventually end- when someone has something REALLY important to do, such as buy stuff :P . People who are smart enough would stop when they feel bored or not start a conversation like that at all.

I feel that the Bot thing and the channel take over thing is such an arguement. None of us will win in that arguement. We all have different experiences that have changed our opinions. I can only think of one way to end that issue, but it's not a good one: drop the whole IRC thing, because it's not gonna work. If we keep the channel, someone will have to back out on their view of the bots issue, and it will hurt them very much to do so. So, let's just end it without anyone having to surrender.

I dont think szupie knows what he was saying, IRC Rocks!

This takes up too much space and is too colorful, not to mention to big and has a funny font :P
