Well, I am a bit curious as to how everyone has their graphical interface setup in *NIX OS'es. Please, no screenshots of Windows, but Mac OS X is okay, as it is a *NIX OS. But what Window Manager/Desktop Environment, maybe programs you normally use, and whatever showing in a screenshot you wish to post. Maybe add on a little mini-story about your computer, what it's used for, and what hardware it runs on.

I'd just like to see the many faces of other *NIX screens, as we have many, and those users of Windows are basically stuck with one interface.

I'll post my screenshot later tonight. Have fun!

I cant post a screenshot now cause I'm not at home so I have no screen to post... BUT I'm running a handful of window managers at home and just switch between them at random to keep it fresh. I like Kde/Gnome/Fluxbox/something ICE or somesuch...maybe? the name is currently not in my head apparently lol.

But yea I dont have anything too fancy, but once I start up school in a few weeks again and use linux more often I have plans to pimp it out haha

Pimp my linux w00 haha

I'm using the standard desktop, CDE. I only use the desktop for starting something on my PC.
And, of course, all my old MS-DOS games don't play on my new XXdows computers, so I have to boot on a floppy disk.

I was using AmiWM, but I have just today switched over to Debian (which I am liking quite a bit), so I am just using GNOME2 for the moment...

I am really getting spoiled by apt-get...

I use KDE. Man, you use old stuff, no one really uses CDE anymore, MOTIF sucks anyways, IMO.

I personally think KDE sucks, and I would personally rather use CDE any day over KDE. *NIX is old, and old doesn't necessarily mean outdated. It can also mean tried-and-true performance, as is the case with UNIX and *NIXes out there. I could slam you for using KDE, being as it's basically what makes *NIX make more like a Windows-wannabe, not to mention Tk's inferiority in performance compared to GTK+... But you do your thing, I do mine, let the CDE user do his too.

ok, but just a reminder, KDE uses QT and my KDE does NOT look like Windoze.

Guess after 8 posts, I'm the first one to actually post a screenshot ;).

Here:

I'm using Fluxbox with Aterm which can be seen in the background. It's been made transparent so the desktop is visible through it.

That taskbar.....that looks exactly like XP-ish. It's jsut the common KDE taskbar. I can't stand it.

Well, sorry empty calorie, but I didn't want to waste space on my desktop so I shrunk it so it looks like Windows XP.

Oh that's fine, you just said your desktop looks nothing like Windows, but it does a bit, so yeah. Don't stress it.
