This phone would need to be completely hands free, with that said.. there would be no keypad of any sort.. there would also be no display screen.. these would have to be sometype of smart phone..
Everything would be voice activated
Even to programs your numbers you would say something like new directory. then the phone would promp the questions for you to answer such as name of person, home number, home number..
so then do dial you would simply say call john at work or cell, or home.
if you are wondering well how will i see who is calling me.. the phone wil automativcally let you know.. saying
incoming call from :
of the person is programmed to your phone then it would sate something like so
incoming call from John Cell number
and to answer you would say end call or something like so
but what do you guys think of something like this.

That would be awesome to have a phone like that, but I see one main setback here. That headset/earphone hanging from your ear will most likely not feel comfortable after wearing it for an extremely long period of time.
If this "new" phone is made possible in the near future, hopefully it will have a speaker function also. That way it will be really handsfree and you don't need to keep it hanging on your ear for many hours throughout the day (say at home even - ears needs resting

That's quite a good idea, msabas('s brother, I should say!)
Well, have you guys seen the latest wireless hearing aids? They are about the size of a peanut and go into your ear from the back side! If hard-hearing people can wear those all day and everyday, I bet we could do that too!
As for the mic, you could always use a separate collar-mic. We can have bluetooth between them so that there's no wire stuff in wireless cells!
And yes, the voice-activated cell software can be nicely incorporated into a microchip and put into the main speaker itself. Now, the only problems we would face are-
- Where to put the main communicating device? (
did we forget this?!)
- What about the power or storage batteries? (
Damn!)
Also, on the dark(er) side, all we could do on it would be just make (or receive) voice calls, and in this cheesy new technology-addicted world, nobody would want just that!
Anyways, those were the pros and cons, now you decide what its really worth!

People walking around talking to air.
The thing hurting your ear (you ears can really star to hurt from wearing headphones, like when i would playe Myst III for several hours.)
Plus if it malfunctioned, like that exploding dell laptop (or even just overheated a little) it could really cause a problem (although this point is very unlikely).
Also, I have personally never found a voice recognition system up to my standards.

Otherwise, I think it is an interesting concept.

This is another long-winded opinion, but hey it's the internet. I can say whatever I want

You have it wirelessly attached to your actual phone, and everything IS voice activated. You can control the volume, call people, pick up the phone, put people on hold. The only thing is though that it has to be within like...30 feet of your phone.
I have one and it's great quality. But most of the time, I just use my normal phone. The Bluetooth is just way too small and I feel as if I'm talking to air (as some people suggested above)

i think the cheaper models of this one will give you 2 suitcases free.. or one backpack..
found inside is the main communication device and batteries..
----
i used to joke about this.. selling a good and nice watch.. state of the art with computers built in and satellite access.. and i travel alot with it.. [well i tell stories like this while carrying two suitcases].. then when a guy gets interested.. i just tell i am selling it for a buck.. then after he gave me the money i will give him the suitcases and tell the guy to properly charge the batteries..
now.. if this came true.. this piece of science.. i can just adjust a few my old joke..
----
i still prefer an embeded microchip inside my skull.. and a little reciever antenae or something to that i will just think of my message and i can send it all away.. one thing i fear is the creation of viruses for this embed chips on our skulls..
i dont want to shout.. "OMG! OMG! Please run an AV on my head.. I got trojans inside my head!!
***
keyboard is so sleepy..

stock market?
near a jackhammer?
different people have difeerent types of voices... even if u do creat a diverse spectra voice recongnition system it would be impossible to get it right every time...
what if u are in a meeting>? u cant send a messge without talking and distrupting the ongoing proceding?
what if u want to send a private message? what if ure mother is sitting right infront of u and u want to tell ure girlfrind that u love her....
the idea is not very smart as it limits the consumer and user through certain parameters....

I am not sure if an all hands free phone would be practical. First the voice recognition program currently is mediocre at best; you would probably have to repeat your commands several times at a loud voice for it to register. That brings up another problem that what if you want to make a call at a public place, very inconvenient.Thu Nov 23, 2006 Reply New Discussion
