Vista:
What do I think?

A nerve for everyone(sometimes) :D :o
Many programs don't support Vista.
Examples: Nero, my modem-telephone, PHP

A very good OS :D :D :D
Good graphics, good themes, good "stuff."

Too much Controls :D :o
Many, many, many account controls. I mean,"Hello, account controls in XP is enough already!"

Nice protection :)
It has all it needs to protect itself. The only thing missing is the anti-virus.

Windows XP:
What do I think?

Super DANGER ZONE :o :o
Most viruses and dangerous trojans can infiltrate a Windows XP Installation! :o
So be careful!!!!!

Much BETTER in Controls

Prone to Systematic Bugs
Many XP's encounter system-changing bugs, such as the kb307545.

Very wide Compatibility
Most programs, except for some created originally for Vista, supports Windows XP

So VOTE!

Thing is that both systems have their own advantages and disadvantages:
Vista's advantages are clearly in its redesigned security system and better SMP and 64-bit support. It's disadvantage is in it being a hog for resources and some compatibility issues (which I have yet to run into one that I can't circumvent).
XP's advantage is in it's speed and compatibility but is a nest for exploits and security issues compared to Windows Vista.

Another thing about Vista is that it has constant patches compared to Windows XP which doesn't get patched that much frequently. Another thing people overlook is that Windows Update is now actually built into the system instead of requiring you to go to Windows Update's website to get the update. This makes it so much safer since some people still remember the day when someone cracked into the website and starting to employ virus codes into the update system. No further attacks can be made since it's now embedded into the system.

hello guys,,
nice to meet you all,,

just give my view about my experiment using Vista,,

vista is the best after all depends Xp,,
but also there are disadvantages,,

like not all software can be installed in Vista,,i dont know why,,
n then if we want to install every software or system, it will be blocked by pop up..it makes time delay,,although only 2 seconds,,
but it breaks our mood,,hahaha,,

and then the fitur and setting is really different with XP,,we must provide our leisure time to learn back Vista,,
like "run",,we only use it using key in our keyboard,,,etc,,

but the advantages is there is no virus right now in Vista,,one day,,i try to make autorun virus in Vista,,but it didn't make effect at all,,
and the security,,i guess it provide best security ever than other windows,, :D

Double advantage

WindowsXP
- Safe as hell as long as you use the right tools (I have NEVER had a virus on my computer !)
- Fast and tweakable
- Huge support available
- Easy to use (for me)

Vista Home Premium
- Same thing about safety as in XP
- Slow, but partially tweakable
- Too much annoying features, but they are disableable
- lots of new and handy features
- supplied WMP11 is crap

I'm no windows fanboy nor a linux fanboy. I'm an open minded person who knows that every OS has it's advantages and disadvantages and that we'll have to learn to live with them (or at least try to patch them a bit :D ).

Great thing about XP compared to Vista atm is compatibility on some stuff. I didn't have much troubles with Vista considering compatibility until recently: struggling to get surround working. dry.gif

On the other hand I find Vista so much more reliable on other aspects such as stability. Wouldn't be surprised others would state the opposite when compatibility problems take their toll on that aspect.

I have a few gripes about Vista. I've got the Ultimate version, I've tried running it on both my laptop and my desktop. With both laptop + desktop systems running at least dual core processors, 2GB ram, dedicated GPU on desktop, I haven't had issues about memory hogging. It does use a lot, but with so much available it doesn't impact so much on the resources. And the speed is pretty decent. Not a huge improvement over XP, but it does work fine. Only slow on logging in + running startup applications. I turned off UAC since i'll be the only one using the computer and i know what i'm doing most of the time. Plus I use 3rd party programs for those needs. So as a basic OS, it's not that bad, and the new games, bitlocker security, and general suspicious behavior of Vista towards anything you try to do are useful. I do run frequently into compatibility issues, though. I'm no programmer, so maybe there are workarounds that I'm not aware of, but things like Internet Explorer 7, Yahoo Messenger, basic stuff, freeze occasionally and have to be restarted. This has now happened twice. Once after full activation, and once right after i installed it as a 30 day trial. Then I don't like that Manufacturers are beginning to lock XP out of being used, by shipping laptop models only with Vista, and no drivers available for XP. This has now happened to a Sony laptop, and to a HP desktop, both of which came with Vista Business Premium, but only on a restore partition (no cd). So I had to mirror the drive before trying to install XP on it, and it refused to recognize several parts. Then looking online at the manufacturer's website, there are no drivers for XP. So unless you build your own computer from OEM pieces, they're starting to phase out even the possibility of running XP. I'm sure hacked drivers will surface, but it's really annoying that they would do that.

XP can be just as safe as Vista, if you take good care of it, and follow common sense security procedures. Then I've found XP to be more stable, faster running, and easy to configure and modify to suit your needs.

For me, the bottom line is: For a computer idiot, or in a comparision of clean installed XP vs. Vista, Vista is the OS of choice. It doesn't leave you room to make many mistakes. For those who know what they're doing, XP still has the upper hand over Vista.

I actually tried using XP and noticed that it was the most reliable and has the most accuracy. Also it has the most RAM and most reliability for games.

Vista, on the other hand has a lot of security and is useful for "games for windows"
-bad quality
-cool graphics

Thanks, but the best version is XP. If you are planning on buying a new computer, wait for Windows 7 to come out in January 2009. It's the next version of vista but has better qualities.

Best regards~ Sachin

XP and vista Windows Xp & Vista: Advantage Or Disadvantage

I have used both the OS but accoding to my point of view Xp is far far better than Vista.

Vista you will get nice looks and little bit added feature like ( switch between windows I mean in Vista home premium . Only good thing abot Vista is booting is very fast and network security is more.

There are so many compatibilty issue with installing s/w in Vista.

I will prepare you guys to install Xp rather than Vista . Vista is not a upgrade rather you can say its degrade . You can say I want to upgrade Vista to Xp to resolve many issues .. M I right ??? I belive I am right except on view of all the user rather than Mirosoft ..

Hope Windows 7 full version will have all the facilities and all the good advantages ...

Regards ,

Subir
