Never used Thunderbird as I have Outlook 2003 and am satisfied with it.
I switched away from IE before firefox was out, to Mozilla. I used it and IE about 50/50. Then I switched to... what was its original name... firebird? Loved it, stuck with it through the name change, and basically IE was (and still is) only used for the few sites that are incompatible with firefox.
I use thunderbird here at work for my email and it's fine. I've never used email clients alot so I don't really have that strong of an opinion about them... my last work place used Excahnge alot so I used outlook and I really don't have any reason to like one more then the other for the features I use. I think outlook is more full featured in ways but t hat's just what I've seen from afar, without actually delving that far into either.
Regardless, Mozilla products are all of great quality and I hope they stick around for as long as I am
(I have never tried Camino for the mac, but from what I've seen/heard it is a great browser as well.)

Hearing you people say you might switch back for IE7 makes me cry inside

Internet Explorer isn't that bad, but I can understand why it is loathed! I reckon that all I really need is a web browser with pop-up blocker and tabbed browsing. I don't really care about anything else.
I have never really used thunderbird because opera has integrated email capabilities.
Right now i am installing ie7 to have as a backup browser.
Overall i think mozilla is a good company but after some bugs i have experienced i wouldnt switch back
I much prefer Opera as a browser, it's the fastest out there.
As for their mail programme, well, you have to be joking, it's absolute rubbish.
But Firefox is a lot better in my opinion. Like Netscape, this browser is capable of using tabs instead of new windows. And I can still have different user profiles, easy-to-customize bookmarks, etc.
Even when IE7 comes out, I'm pretty sure that I'll stick with Firefox. I'm a sucker for software that doesn't make me crazy *grins*
My only complaint is that Firefox randomly shuts down. It's very rare - maybe once every couple of weeks or so - but it's still a mild annoyance. Oh, well.
As to thunderbird, I cant say much as i havent used it much but ive only ever heard good things about it.
Its safe, its fast and the best part is that its all FREE!!
I think everybody should use it, because internet explorer its too slow and ugly, and doesnt have any extensions and skins!
It used to be lightweight, secure and revolutionary but now other browsers are catching up fast.
Firefox has a very slow start up time as compared to other browsers even IE. Its page load times aren't the best either. Its memory footprint has gotten rather large as well.
Some of its popular addons have memory leaks further increasing its memory usage as well though this is being remedied.
The only reason why I still use is it is familiarity.
Performance wise, Opera blows everything away though it also has a large memory footprint. However startup time and page rendering times are super. But it also costs something...
Take a look at http://www.howtocreate.co.uk/browserSpeed.html#winspeed for the performance charts.
I suggest you give Internet Explorer 7 beta 2 a go. It looks like it's shaping up well and once it's a full product should be quite good. As much as I hate to admit it, Microsoft is catching up and has learnt from its mistakes. Is a bit buggy still but even firefox is beginning to crash a lot more...
Now Netscape is nothing but IE and Firefox into one browser, and you can change the atmosphere in a click of a button and Netscape itslef has no significant feature.
Opera has a very download manager and optimized browsing experiance, it is like Firefox with all the extensions, it is good for people who are too lazy or do not know how and where to get the extensions for Firefox.
IE, sorry nothing really good except they can help you browse in websites.
Firefox is comparitively stable and has a lot of features for people to use and the most significant being the tabbed browsing experiance, it does many a times give an error and crashes but no as much as IE, also thunderbird is pretty cool and does the job pretty well in my opinion. So Mozilla has some pretty cool and good products
I dont understand the deal with tabbed browsing. If the program crashes, all pages will be lost. Instead, just use new windows. That's what I like about IE but not Firefox. Ahh well, some people like it
For Mozilla, now SeaMonkey, I can say it's great, only the composer is a bit funny (bad funny, not funny funny!

Most users will probably need to keep Internet Explorer since there are some sites that won't work properly without it. One main one is Microsoft's Windows Update site.
The whole mozilla project has grown incredibly quick and its proving to be the best thing out there since chernobyl. Microsoft haave just bin lazy!!!! This is why Linux is now taking over with MAJOR projects being created literaly everyday!!!!!!! Come on!!!! forget your old IE Microsoft lazy-tart browser!!!!
Which would you have?
- 10 different browser windows in your toolbar opened at the same time, crowding up, confusing you OR
- them 10 windows in one? (in tabs)
I just dont get you dudes........

All of you who say IE is better then Firefox make me cry. Really,......... cry.I use Firefox, and I find it quite good. I like the tabbed interface, the added security, the addons (especially adBlock...forget ads!). The biggest problem with it is its bloatedness. It takes up around 100,000K after using it for a couple of hours, which can get really annoying. I then have to shut Firefox down, and (luckily because I have Firefox 2 Beta), it'll save the session for me so that I can reload it. If Mozilla could somehow improve the memory issue, I would be really satisfied.
Of course, Firefox is free, unlike Internet Explorer, so I can't complain. And besides, Firefox is great when it comes down to standards compliance. I remember the other day when trying with a friend to design a website for our school's club--IE would just not display right. ><
However, one criticism is, can someone in the Mozilla team stop using the GTK+ backend for Firefox/Thunderbird? It slows everything down, I rather they use the faster QT engine and they still avoid all licensing issues because it's opensource software...

If you don't want to run Microsoft services in Internet Explorer, try using Maxthon or Avant Browser, they are much safer.
Anyways, I use all browsers regularly, except Internet Exploder.
I second this. Sure, I did use Internet Exploder a lot, but at that time I was just an unexperienced kid. It took some time for my dad to persuade me to switch to Firefox (
Of course, after that, I just had to see if Mozilla was good in other areas, too. I download Thunderbird - and guess what? I liked it more than Outlook Express
Mozilla's products are fast, free, full of options and are spreading. On the other hand, IE and Microsoft steal things from other companies (Tabs? Where have I seen them before?) and are slowly losing their customers. According to Wikipedia, Firefox is being used by 12% of the internet population, whereas IE is used by 85%.
You might ask yourself - how come there is such a difference if Firefox is better? It's quite simple actually. Out of those 85%, 35% don't know how to change the browser, and 30% use it through AOL browser without even knowing it. Microsoft should be embarrassed, for these are not the tactics a good product uses.
I think this is a blackmail approach..
with lots of configuration.. I have setup and FORCE windows update to use Firefox..
there are times anyway that Internet Exploder still gets called even if you uninstall it..

We (Windows users) probably don't know half the things Internet Explorer does behind out back! OK, that sounded like a conspiracy.. But maybe there is such a thing..

i do notice that one.. IE or XP is always trying to sneak a connection into the internet using svchost even on fresh install, firewall on and no liveupdates.. just the plain old windows xp and my trusty zonelab software..
in random times of 5mins to 30mins.. my zonelabs firewall asked me that windows or IE is trying to access the internet.. for what purpose.. i dont know but putting windows svchost and IE on the ban list for internet access do nothing in change with how my box operate and function

** i think i am getting sleepy.. it is 4:07am here and i now mispell alot even with what i am doing.. i just err.. crashed the cron job i made since it is writing on a mispelled table name on errors..
On my third day using it with a fresh install.. a message pops asking me if i will allow access or block Zone Alarm for running..
The old program ask me if i will allow himself to run or not.. anyway.. the risk factor is said is very minimal.. maybe it wants to update itself up..
