Today I will be showing you how to make the style "Inedible Orange" that I created for my tutorials site's header. I have included two variations of the style in the .asl file, one for dark backgrounds (v.1) and one for light backgrounds (v.2). I don't have the header finished yet, so here's another example:

For pictures of how the applied settings should look on your text, click on the settings image. This style can be used on any color background, but for the tutorial I will be working on a black background since it is easiest to see. Now with that said, create a new image with a size to fit your text. In my case, I'm using a 95px font (Bastarda) so I started with a 450x150 image.
1. Type your desired text in any color (but it looks best on #FF9900) and try to center it.

2. Now it's time for the effects - We'll start with Bevel and Emboss. Click on the "f" icon on your Layers palette and go to Bevel and Emboss.

3. Use these settings

4. Next, we'll apply the Inner Shadow

5. Then Inner Glow

6. Now the Outer Glow

7. Finally, add a Stroke

There ya go! If you are having trouble understanding the settings, or would rather just get the style prepackaged, you may download it here:

Good Luck!
