I was messing around with my styles the other day and came up with this. I think it kinda has the same look as those stupid little pillows you see at Wal-Mart with "Princess" or "Cute" written on them. But since "Stupid Little 'Princess' Pillow" is too long of a title for a Photoshop style, I call it Satin Pillow. It kinda looks more like silk, but it's my style and I'll call it what I want.

For pictures of how the applied settings should look on your text, click on the settings' image. This style can be used on any color background, but for the tutorial I will be working on a white background, it looks better. Now with that said, create a new image with a size to fit your text. In my case, I'm using a 72px font (Allegro BT, or something like that.) so I started with a 450x150 image.
1. Type your desired text in any color, it doesn't matter because we'll be applying a color overlay, and center it.

2. Now it's time for the effects - We'll start with a Color Overlay. Click on the "f" icon on your Layers palette and go to Color Overlay.

3. Use these settings

4. Next, we'll apply a Bevel and Emboss

5. Then the Inner Glow

6. Now the Inner Shadow

7. Apply the Stroke

Click here for the Gradient settings
8. Finally, add a Drop Shadow

There ya go! If you are having trouble understanding the settings, or would rather just get the style prepackaged, you may download it here: SunBlind's Satin Pillow
Good Luck!

Well, after being away for so long, I figured it's time for me to write another tutorial. This time I have settled for those plastic tentacles you see all over the web; in interfaces, in signatures even. I, myself did several tutorials on this subject, and then I finally found a very simple way ...more
