The other day, I was working on my own server, iddling around with mod_rewrite and .htaccess files. It was all going fine, but then apache started going really slow, and pages were taking forever to load.
I deleted the .htaccess file, re-disabled mod_rewrite and restarted apache, but it was still going incredibly slow, especially for the directory I was doing all the mod_rewrite stuff in.
In the end I had to restart the whole computer for it to get back to normal speed, and even then it was a tiny bit slower than usual.
Does anyone know what could have caused the problem, and how I could use mod_rewrite without it occuring again?
