Get Firefox to check spelling in any text field. By default Firefox only checks spelling in multi-line text fields.

in the address bar type about:config and hit enter
type layout.spellcheckDefault in the filter field
double click on the entry and in the popup box enter 2
click ok

Now spell check should work in any text field.
