While denying some hosting request, I noticed an option that I am sure wasn't there before - "Multi-Moderation" (bottom of the hosting request topic page). I can see that it has "Deny", "Approve Plan 1" and "Approve Plan 2", but I don't know how each of these functions.

Actually, I'm only interested in "Deny", as it is not up to me to approve requests I guess it just locks and moves the topic, but I wanted to be sure.

The Deny option does a close, title change, and move but I don't remember if it replies to the topic as well.

Nobody ever told me about the multi_moderation feature but the feature simply allows the Admin to specify a number of preset moderator functions for a single click. As far as I know, you can have it perform any of the moderator functions in whatever order you wish.

Personally, I have a couple of JavaScripts that I use for dealing with request topics. One approves and the other denies. I simple click the bookmark and a few questions like "Reason For Denial?" pops up. When I finish, the reply is paste into the input field and I just click submit. The JS already selects th Close Topic option from the pull down so I haven't anything left to do but send the approval code to the server if I approve the application.

I tried the deny option once to see what it did but since I don't know what the approve options actually do, I didn't want to "test" them on someones request.

I guess, I can go into the control panel and see what they are set to do.

That's a very useful feature. I'd appreciate it if you could find out. For example, if it sends a PM to an Admin to approve the hosting, it could be useful. If it moves the request to the approved forum, it would be bad because then the Admins wouldn't find it.

Okay, I looked into it!

The deny option adds a little denial reply to the topic, adds "- Denied" to the end of the topic title, closes, and moves the topic to the denied applications forum.
The two approval options adds a little approval reply to the topic and closes the topic.

Even if the multi-moderation feature is used for approvals, the Admin still needs to send the proper codes to the hosting server.

The only downside to the deny option is that it doen't inform the user as to why his application was denied.

Nonetheless, moderators may use the deny option when they are sure that an application will not be approved. This save the Admins a great deal of time. Many times, it isn't the approval of applications that takes so long, it is cleaning up the mess of the idiot that made 30 four word posts to get the required 10 credits they needed.

Please do not use the approval options as this will lead to confussion.

Just tried denying a request by doing so, and it works as a charm Especially for people who have zero posts and didn't even read the rules. As for those that tried, I guess it won't be too much troble to write them a reply and close/move the topic manually

Cool. More tools to make our lives simpler. Definitely a good thing. Now if only the forum could go back to the way I remember it when M^E was active and discussions of actual coding technique, design elements, and ideas for making good things lasted more than a couple posts.
