Uhm, I am sorry I haven't been here much these last days, but for some reason it seems next to impossible to get here. I mean, I have astahost set in my hosts file, I use different DNS servers etc, still I get a blinkin DNS time out for astahost sooo often, I really have no idea what to do. Yesterday I couldn't get on here at all, trap17 doesn't give me these issues. The day before I was on here for about an hour or so.

The reason I no longer use my ISPs DNS servers (one of them I still use) is because of that very DNS time out issue, it seemed solved but it just gets worse. If ANYONE has any idea please please tell me...

I mean, I've called them and told then their DNS servers don't have astahost in there, but they didn't change anything so it seems.

Ive been having trouble getting in aswell. And the forums move mega slow when I do.

Not sure whether this is a problem on this end, or your end.

I've had no problems connecting to here, no DNS timeouts or anything like that. Maybe just busy servers? I don't like it when I come here and see googlebot Should call it googlebog, since it really does dramatically slow the server down. I wonder how many page requests it can do in a minute?

I don't have astahost in the host file, although the host file skips the actual DNS lookup, so maybe this could be a problem? Although, I know astahost has gone through different IPs over the time (I think).


Try other DNS servers, there's no reason why you need to stick to your ISP's DNS server, it might be a case of their server being down, try a "nslookup" (windows/linux) or "dig" (if in linux) on your DNS server you're using, if you get a response back from this, then the DNS server is up, else it's not working. Trying pinging the DNS server to see if you get a response as well, if not, then the problem could be due to a down DNS server, even if you've set up 3 DNS servers, sometimes the primary DNS when faced with problems, doesn't switch to the other DNS servers you've got set up, well this is one of the problems I've noticed before.

Seems fine just now though, ill keep watch for slowness and hit the pings to see whats up if it happens again.
