At first I came to believe that watching videos on a display this small would not be worth it. The smallest thing I would have watched anything on was maybe a small laptop. But what got me excited about this Ipod was rumors about buying episodes of your favorite TV shows through Itunes for cheap prices, around 1.99 for each one. Imagine watching the Wire or your favorite Britney Spears music video right at the palm of your on hand! (not that I'm into Britney's music.....) These developments could revolutionize the way videos are distributed the same way as when Itunes revolutionized music distribution.

It will doubtless be a bog seller, people will always want to have the latest, whatever it is, but a tiny screen like that is pointless.

I don't like it. Although it's thinner than the previous generation iPods, it's wider and I think that it doesn't look as nice because of that.
I'm sure this is going to be a big seller, and the idea of being able to watch your farvourite TV shows aswell as listening to your music where ever you go seems very appealing to me, and probably will to the general public. The only bad thing is that I bought an iPod last week, and now iPod announce a new one, for only £10 more. If I'd waited a week I could have one of those!
Also, I'm wondering if there will be problems with this new iPod, like there has been with previous "new iPods" from Apple. There has been the massive issue of scratching and screens breaking on the iPod nano, there was the massive shortage of iPod minis when everybody wanted them...
Oh well, I'm gonna go on iPodlounge and see what I can find.

makes me wonder how successful the product really will be considering, at present a whole bunch of mobile phones have the capacity to payback video and it's pretty scratchy..
on the other hand, I do suppose it's just the ideal thing to have on you when you're spending long hour just commuting from home to work and back. In most cities around the world, commuting has begun to take on patience wrentching proportions.. I for example spend about an hour getting the 6 kms it takes for me to get to work, and if it's raining possibly double the time.. I hate to drive since it's no lonnger a pleasure to head out in a car and most likely take a cab.. would do a lot of good to catch up on a few movies - at least from the 'need to have gossip' point of view...
what would really take off would be the ability of the iPod video to be capable of recieving streaming video or satellite TV.. now that would really take the cake.. perhaps even an attachment with a foldable screen which may simply be stuck (temporarily) to the seat in fron of you..
By mid- next year, most of India should have a viable WiMAX coverage (alongside the cellular network) which would be broadband and it would become instantly possible to recieve video transmissions over IP through this medium.. so anyone with a laptop or a WiMAX enabled gadget would be able to travel across a city (or whereever cellular network is available) and access the net and even streaming music and video...
an iPod video which is WiMAX enabled and can access defined online video channels would be supreme

The new generation iPod is really meant for watching music videos, or TV episodes that can be downloaded from iTunes Music Store.
Is WiMAX the same as WiFi?

The new video capability on the Ipod is a nice feature. I was planning on an Ipod for a while and waited since the rumors of video were going around. Now I m happy that I waited.
I have got a video Ipod and believe me that though it is not anything like watching on a big screen, it is quite nice to have that capability on the move. It is still a great music player with video feature added.
The price of the earlier 20 GB ipod was the same as the current 20 GB video version.. so people are getting 10 GB extra storage and video capabilty at the same price.(of course they have excluded power adapter from the accessories : $30).. but still good enough if you ask me...
Also there is no compulsion to use the feature just coz its there....
btw.. the length and width are same as the previous ipod.. the width looks more just coz the screen is wider and the space around the screen is less. The smaller scroll wheel also makes it look wider...
The sound quality on the ipod is gr8 as in the previous versions, and with video I am not complaining...
Cheers,
Himanshu

I remember buying a griller, and a month later, they made it so it came apart and could be put in a dishwasher, things like this annoy me, when they could have made it first that way, since the idea had been around for years but a lot of companies do this, just to soak up more money.
Cheers,
