I think whenever we use the delete button to delete a post, it should make a record of it somewhere, along with the number of credits lost. Also, it would be nice if we could have it e-mail the person as well. This would cut down on the "I had X credits, and now I have X-Z credits but it's only been Y days", and when one of tose pops up, we could easily check and say you lost A credits for deleetion of post B, and if you don't beleive us, check your email.

P.S. on a side note, did anyone delete one of Reaver's posts, he claims he is missing credit.

Yeah, that sounds good... that way, there's less confusion overall.

As I've said, I'm still slightly hesitant on doing the more extensive job; I just want to be sure I don't mistake and cause a problem throughout the Astahost system. While that's a slightly extreme consequence, you get my idea. Nonetheless, I'm getting used to it, and I'm sure as I watch and get more acquainted with the rules, I will be more controlling over the forums. I'm learnin', I'm learnin'...

Anyways, that does sound like a good idea, and I couldn't imagine the Admin would have a problem with it.

Also, OpaQue, I know you put a lot fo time into the scripts for this site, but as far as I know, you're the only one who does them. While I undersatnd that may seem more secure to you, or at least if there are problems people can complain to you and you know what you did to go in and change it, many memebers of the staff team are very capable programmers. I've been doing a little research into IPB programming myself. I think if we come up with ideas like this, it might be beneficial o you to let us try and undertake them. Even if you want to do integration of our module with your scripts by yourself, having the main parts of the code written by us would be time efficient for you. So get back to us as soon as you can on this idea.

Thanks,
~Viz

P.S. HTML, you're doing fine, and just to make you fel better, one of my first actions (within the first month) was to accidentally delete someone else's post instead of my own. Fortunately he caught it almost immediately, we had a good laugh, and I still owe him about 2 credits (if only I could remember who it was, oh well, he'll come for me eventually).

I don't know about deleting followup posts, but when we adjust credits for the topic post and delete them, a mail is surely sent to the member telling him about how many credits were lost.

I try to send out an email but I know from experience (I've delted a few of my own accidental double posts) that no automatic email is generated. And the number of credits is unknown to me when I delete a post, so I can't include it in an email.

Just out of curiosity, what happens to the credits given for the replies? Will they disappear too or not?

OpaQue (or other admins) has to delete the topic manually, so I think he also has to remove the credits for the replies manually too. If he thinks the replies are helpful, he would let them keep the credits, but still delete the posts.

I'm talking about a script for the post deletes, not first in a thread deletes. If you delete a reply, credits are automatically adjusted.
