I use Fedora Core. It's pretty good for software development.

Why is Mandrake not in your list ? I have to vote for "other" !

I was using Ubuntu for awhile, switched over to Mepis though. I love the whole apt-get debian system, it's pretty awesome, but theres some aspects of ubuntu that kind of annoyed me... seemed like it was a dumbed down version of debian while mepis just feels like a streamlined version of debian. Regardless, I'm having a good time with Mepis so far, although I've only had it about a week on my system haha... I switch distro's alot...

I've always been a Fedora Gal, though I've tried Mandriva, Ubuntu and will soon try Mepis. I like Fedora don't get me wrong, but after trying for days, my mp3's still did not work, while in Fedora Core 3 this took me 3 minutes. Also Skype under Fedora nope, won't use the mic at all.

Personally, I don't use any Linux versions.

However, I do have 20 copies of Ubuntu Linux  which I may set up one of them when I attach another HD to the PC.

Nice ...i awlays had the feeling that this board had handful of gentoo users...with the signatures and all...which makes me think to get my own signatures tweaked

I've been considering trying out gentoo, but everytime I am about to try it out I nevr do for some reason, the others are just simple to install and set up whereas I've heard many a mumblings about gentoo... who knows. I'll probably try it eventually, but for now Mepis is holding my attention nicely...

Right now, I'm using Mandrake. This in fact is not my own computer, it's my parents. But administered by me so...

I also quiteregularly use Debian at univertisity and found it quite nice. Next time I install Linux (I'm currently kind of forced to use Win2k) on my own computer it'll most likely be Debian. Back in the days I had Red Hat of which I don't have much complaints.

Currently, I am using Debian...And I see that so far, I'm the only Debian user on the poll...

But, you are missing slackware on your poll...and now I have a great idea for a topic...

I am a big fan of Slackware. I was weened off Mandrake and decided to go to a distro that was more true to the essence of Linux by switching to Slackware 10.0. I am very happy with it and just through the installation, you will learn more about the ins and outs of Linux.

There is a huge learning curve for Slackware, it is not RPM based like RH and FC, but don't fret...there are programs to help you easily install applications and updates like pkgtool, installpkg, and slapt-get as apposed to yum.

I like the apt-get manager. It works with RPM, DEB and now even TGZ, the slackware way to install. It's a large step forward to Linux unity. I say, kep up the great work!
