In a local night club, a ai left the WC, somthing caught my eye...
Beeing the computer nerd i am, i just HAD to take a photo (no one else was in the room)

The makers of the condom machine had stolen the FreeBSD logo !
and were selling it to sell condoms and other things naughty.

i just had to laugh, at how i must be tje only guy nerdy enough to notice tha logo, And drink in that Rock music nght club.

Afterwards, after i told everyone around me how cool it was (had had a few pints)
i started to wonder... is this copyright theft ??

Wouldnt it be amasing if FreeBSD Berkely filed a lawsuit againsed these guys !

would make an amasing Slashdot article !

Secondly, I wouldn't have noticed, as I would have been too busy getting the condoms lol, not looking at the machine.

And finally, it would be hilarious if FreeBSD filed a lawsuit against the condom machine for copyright infringement lmao.

When Linux was finished (version 1.0 released)
someone started a discusiion on the mailing list about picking a mascot.

there were lots of surgestions, and piccys put forward.
Mostly animals, mostly big powerful ones like lions, eagles etc etc etc.

lots of argueing, nobody could agreee.

then linus posted a tiny reply, somthing along the lines of "I quite like penguins"

all arguing stoped instantly, and it was decided, a fat penguin, sitting down, grinning because its completely full of fish.

However, i have no idea why....

FreeBSD is a Devil (probably because unis is full of daemons)
OpenBSD is a Blow Fish
Windows is a butterFly.
NetBSD is a red flag
GNU is moose / Oxe / whatever that thing is (gnu.org)

Thanks for clearing that up qwijibow. I always wondered what the fixation with animals was all about.

Talking about Windows, this is sort of a tangent, but if you've heard of the chaos theory, then a Butterfly is perfect for Windows. Microsoft Windows flaps it's wings (makes the software) and we get hit with a tornado of troubles.

However, if you built a computer of infinite size and power.
and rpogramed into it all the laws of physics, both known and un-known.
and programed into it, to an infinite degree of accuracy the current state of the universe.

then the computer could theoretically calculate the wether with zero error.

however... if when constructing the perfect machine, you forget to mention a single butterfly flapping its wings only once, then chaos theory says that eventually, this in-accuracy (maybe taking many many years) will eventually lead to such a degree of amplified inacuraccy, that a random guess would be equaly likely to be correct as the calculated wether.

calculated wether = calm day. actual wether=hurricane.
the butterfly didnt cause the curricane, it just caused the inacurate prediction of the super perfect computer.

in other words, im-pefect calculation of a chaotic system, over time, is as good as a random guess.

and since its impossable to construct a machine which can measure, and calculate with an infinite number of decimal places... Chaotic systems can never be accuratly calculated, but are an excellent source of pseudorandom data.

eventually margin for error reaches 100%.
