Ummm, you should've went stock and install a larger hard drive and RAM yourself. It is marked as user-installable items. That could've saved you A LOT of money. xboxrulz

For most of add-on components. PC and mac should both use the same type of hardware such ide drive, usb ... etc. If you could found a drive that is wrote for mac. You even can use pc version. So, the most expensive one might be the core system. Then that will depends on your type of usage and budget ! PC could lower as US$ 300-350, but mac will cost you $US 1300 or above.

I'm actually using my mac right now! I'm starting to really hate my Windows XP boot as it's just so buggy and poor at connecting to my router. I'm currently dual booting with XP and openSUSE 11. and to be honest, I'm really starting to like Linux more and XP less. As for Mac v.s. Windows, I think Apple will really start to take the market as they're becoming more stylist, popular and able to run Windows apps (due to intel chip).

I'm looking to get a laptop, hopefully Mac. The cheapest I can find is £656 on Apple Edu-UK, Amazon is 696. Should I bother looking for cheaper?

Well, 656 pounds equals to CAD$1,267 and the second lowest priced Macbook is CAD$1299 (before taxes) so I guess it's a good deal. xboxrulz

If yes (or you have a mate at uni) get them to log on through the campus internet and buy it that way. You'll save money by using the student discount.

The Edu-Uk store is the other half of the student stuff, though its only 8% discount. Is it worth trying that procureweb thing at college (your high-school)?

Well, you should try it. 8% discount is 52 sterling pounds off, that's still money. xboxrulz

Symantec: Windows Is Most Secure Os
(17) QUOTE Symantec: Windows is Most Secure OS hackers.jpgIn a report that surprises even the PC
lovers around here (read: me), Symantec has listed Microsoft Windows as the most secure OS out
there. They claim that Windows had the fewest number of patches and the shortest patch development
time of any OS, including Mac, Red Hat Linux, Solaris, and HP-UX (any HP-UX fanboys in the house?).
So what in the hell is going on? We've been spoon-fed all this data that says Windows is about
as secure as a screen door while Macs are perfectly safe, yet OS X came in 3rd in the ....

crystal like stuff, all around... Maybe that's why I like KDE more.. w/e. - seems to be more

Windows Vs. Linux, Old, But New?
(11) This is quite an old topic, but I am here to relate my experience. I wanted to start a new thread
cause is feel there are many out there like me with similar experiences. But first, a background -
I've been using windows for over 7 years now, right from 95 to xp pro here. (the only version is
skipped was 2000 and me) I have become the proverbial 'guru' in my area - if there was
anything related about computers, it had to be me. Then, I heard about linux. I wanted to try it

everything: play games, working with graphics, audio, video... - TONS of viruses, some stability
issues. Linux + I haven't tried it, but I have heard it works awesome for servers. Few (or
none) virus. No Hardware compatibility issues. - Quite poor compatibility. Few gr....

Windows Vs Linux
(34) Windows Vs Linux 1-Security is depend on many parameters in per network, and only operating system
can't to meet to cover the security. For example : a few years ago a company employed number
of peoples to search in the papers and rubbishes of Microsoft and find Codes of Microsoft, and
found important information . Then we can see that the security of a network is depend of many
factors that we may don't care about those. Windows and Linux have weaknesses in security, but
because of many users of Windows, naturally the weaknesses of Windows is discoverable....
