| | Most of you would have been to the recently opened site by Microsoft : Windows Live Custom Domains Beta.
Things that they give you :
1. 20 e-mail accounts in your domain
2. Each account having a 250MB space
3. Junk mail filter protection
4. Virus Scanning.
5. Access it with Messenger, MSN Spaces etc.
Now my problem. I entered my domain of astahost : XXXXX.astahost.com. I get the following error : The domain name entered is not available for use with this service.. I type in : astahost.com , and it works. What would i need inorder to work my domain on this ?

Problem is you don't have a Top Level Domain (TLD) but rather a subdomain under astahost. So you can't modify the nameserver MX (mail exchange) records to be able to divert the mail into their inbox. I don't think you can really do it if you have a subdomain. However, if you get yourself a top level domain name then most likely you can. Incidentally, you can get yourself a top level .be (belgium) domain name as stated in this post: Free .be DomainsSite in one of the Belgian languages (Dutch I believe).. but you can guess what goes where in most part and easily skip the ones not marked with an asterix (*). Next you cross your fingers and wait for "that" email to arrive.. And keep waiting...and waiting...  P.S. maybe abiram can shade some light at it - he's got one.

lol .. thanks for that prompt reply as always m^e, but i guess going through all that pain and then waiting and getting and .be domain for 1 year and then loosing this mail system is kinda weird if i propose to keep a few folks on my site for good. I just thought that there could be a work around this problem from my side or the server side, but if not then its all fine. Its not that important to me anyways. I am happy with the mail i have in my domain  Regards Dhanesh.

Just get a domain man  domains are dad cheap these days.. but one for 10-15 years at a stretch and u won't pay more than $4-5 per year. That'll solve your problem for once and all

Ahh .. i WISHED ! .. lol .. no really, i mean i dont have a problem getting a domain, but then its a pinch that adds up always. I still go to college, and my dad n mum earn, so its like a burn up every time i ask for money. Yeah yeah .. call me a baby, but when your 22 and in college , without a job, man it pinches more than anything at this stage. And like any Indian parents, therz always the "Do your college first, get a degree and then do what you want" yessh .. cant take it , but have to live with it. Maybe in a years time when i get a job i would first go for a domain. Its a top priority on my "to-do" list after getting my second pay  . My first priority is to get an Alienware :$ ..

servers? Well, I know that when you go to a domain, it queries NS1.ASTAHOST.COM (for example if you

network and what I'd like to do is have it setup with a "Site Temporarily Down" message and then

(5) Ok, for testing my knowledge, I got a free domain "floppydrives.cjb.net" and free DNS service at
ZoneEdit.com. However, when you visit "floppydrives.cjb.net" you're taken to the document root
of "/var/www/html" instead of where I'd like it to go: "/home/user/public_html" I think this is

(6) Hey, I was looking through the config pages of my Linksys WRT54G router and found a Dynamic DNS
page and decided, what the heck might as well try it. Since I'm restricted to two services
(DynDNS.org and TZO.com) I tried out DynDNS.org and got a domain for my network. I also enabled
remote management so I can be at school or on the road and can check the status of my network or
remotely do something to the router without having to get the IP since Alltel DSL is dynamic which

*grin* I have a home network. Works fine. Main computer hardwired, daugher's computer via
Wireless. They work fine together. I also have been provided a Laptop from work. I'm able to
sucessfully use my network wireless card and gain access to the internet at home. This Laptop from
work... is setup with the Network ID, as a "DOMAIN"... to fully access the "Intranet" at work. As
is normal for home usage... my main computer at home, as well as the daughter....

dns adress and IP to configure a domain
Problem with registrar company (6) Hi guys. While I'm waiting for my startin' pack in astahost, I've got an account in
100WebSpace . They sent me the dns adress to configure my domain, however my registrar company asked
for an IP number asociated with that dns. None IP number was provided to me by the hosting company
with such purpose, only one corresponding to the ftp server. I used this IP in my registrar and it
works. My question is: is always neccesary to provide an IP number beside the dns?....

yes free for one year (23) In case you don't already know, .info domain are getting cheaper and cheaper. Some of the
registrars are even offerring them free for one year. I got some of my .info domain from
domainsite.com for free. But appearently they are charging 0.99$ for one year now. You can get
them for free from www.domaindiscount24.com till the end of the month ....
