hahaha.. totally cool. Do they have an "e day" too for the euler's number ? ------------------------------------ I found some more really interesting facts and sites about PI.. here you go: QUOTE As of 1998, the greatest calculation of pi has been done by two Japanese researchers at the University of Tokyo to have 51,539,600,000 digits! That's over 51 billion digits! You can even search for your birthday in pi! Go here Here is a 160 character program in C, written by D. T. Winter, which will calculate the first 800 digits of pi: int a=10000,b,c=2800,d,e,f[2801],g;main(){for(;b-c;)f[b++]=a/5; for(;d=0,g=c*2;c-=14,printf("%.4d",e+d/a),e=d%a)for(b=c;d+=f[b]*a, f[b]=d%--g,d/=g--,--b;d*= ;} Source: Mathematics Fun, Fiction, Function, Fantasy

its been a long time since if used eulers number! Reasons why e() is beter than pi.. http://www.thesapps.com/Doug/exp/etop10.html(funy in a math geek kind of way) does euler's number have a day ??? try convreting this into a date, lol. i suppose 7th of February ? but i think its probably celbrated even less than pi day. at least 99.9% of earths population have heard of pi... (even if they do confuse it with apple pie)

WOW... juust read that... QUOTE I have an interesting pi fact: a mere 39 decimal places are sufficient to construct a circle with a circumference surrounding the visible universe, with an error of less than the radius of a hydrogen atom!!!

Heh... We did nothing for pi day, the math teacher just said happy pi day!, and then it was done. I think the 14th of March, 1592 should have been the greatest pi day. But it's the past... How about 14th of March, 2016? (3-14-16, pi rounded off)

We've got a coolest math teacher of 'm all, he tells us about politics, society, history and sometimes, very sometimes, he tells us about math.

Totally random here, but the so called pi day is actually White Day in Japan, where boys who had received chocolates from girls on Valentine's Day (one month before) would give a gift back to the girl. One day after pi day is my powerbook's birthday! She's one year old now! *pats*

Heres a website were you can search through the known digits of pi for your birthday, but I forget the website. Apparently alot of peoples appears but mine didn't. In a maths class this year we found out pi to 8 decimal places using a calculation, paper and a calculator. It was interesting for a while but then it got boring, because we all argued we could get that result by pressing the pi button. So we got a computer spreadsheet program and worked it to 32. I guess we should have got the extra seven so that our circle calculations were even more accurate eh? I forget what the formula was now but basically you start with a square and work out the circumference of the square, by finding each side of the square using the cosine rule and then multiplying it by four. Then a pentagon, hexagon and onwards and it slowly began to converge to pi. But 3.141592 is all the decimal places i need to remember and know, maybe 22/7 as a fraction as well, which is close enough to pi for everyday calculations.

pi day?!? Haven't heard about it before... Has every constant it's day? I've found pi value: 3.14159265358979323846264338327950288419716939937510 Don't think that this is all pi. Check out here for more digits (ONE MILLION!!!) 30millions? 50 millions? No problem! Here! And there is comming more... Check out here if you are interested. I don't know why are poeople so mad about pi... For me it's enought 3.14

There was only one set of results for 16051989 making me unique. But if I took off the 19 from 1989 I get 20+results Pie is quit the interresting number though...I haven't learned E yet but next year I've got grade 11 math n physics so I'll be sure to read back on this to find out what you guys are talking about then

Pi day is cool, so is just the number pi. In 6th grade on pi day (3 years ago) my teacher printed out a huge page of pi. I'm not sure how many decimal places it went out, but it took up about 10 pages single spaced. Anyways, our teacher told us a formula to find our birthday in pi. Pi contains everyone's birthday. Ex-020568 It's pretty neat.

QUOTE(shaldengeki @ Mar 16 2005, 10:51 PM) My math teacher let us celebrate Pi day... we brought in tons of pies (pumpkin, apple, blueberry, etc), Pi stuff (such as books, t-shirts, mugs, everything!), and any random interesting math stuff, really. It was great- we essentially got the period off to talk to friends and screw around in the name of pi. lucky! my calc prof gave us an exam to celebrate!
