sans-serif fonts are the best... btw: "which bear is best?"
Well, yeah I agree that Sans-Serif are one of the best to use, but Sans non Serif are also good, also a lot of whom can just use Arial or Verdana, due to they are usually present on most systems and browsers if nothing is done custom.. but I personally try to avoid Arial, I don't really like it to much..
You mean what beer is the best? yeah, thats a good rhetoric question Well, because bear is something like an animal, usually brown, but in the arctic pole there are some white too
the best font is one that fits where it is placed and looks good. not one font looks good everywhere, especially if your going a fancy font. many of the sites that offer 'free fonts' are only for personal use - so be careful where you get them from, maybe look for some licensed under creative commons!
I agree that there is no one font that suits all occasions, however, staying away from "Comic Sans MS" is almost always a step forward to choosing the best font, haha. Please, try not to use a font that's both overused and misused.
I believe that there won't be a right answer. This would be strictly opinionated, because of how many fonts are in the world, and that if you are not trying to compare a certain font, then there really is no really answer. Everyone has favorites, and the only way it could be remotely close, is if is a default font that is loaded already with the PC. I have seen it posted already, but I think with the default fonts, Comic Sans seemed to be very popular. There are users who don't use graphic programs, so they like to use Comic Sans.
I have many disks full of fonts, so I don't really have a favorite... Now I use a font viewer to find the right match for my images. I just try to relate that font if I really like it. As for every day usage, I think that a clean serif font should be used for text oriented needs. You want users to be able to read your text without problems, or they will pass it by for something easier.
So I say for cool looking titles or banners or any other image oriented needs to play around, and for important text, keep it simple.
Before I came into web programming, I had never really thought about fonts...........
You go to a website, get info, see interesting graphics/pictures, and interact with other people. The font is the last thing on people's minds. Yet we developers waste so much time on finding fonts............
Time if we put into other things we can make our sites a lot more interesting!!!!
sIFR 2.0 an open source solution to rich typography for the web I plan on trying this
soon and just wanted to see if anyone else has had any experience with it. It looks like it could
really come in handy. I was going to try it out and experiment on a past job, but the coding of the
website ended up being passed on to a web programmer. Apparently it uses a combination of flash,
javascript and CSS to embed non web-safe fonts into a web page while still making it appear like a
normal html page. What I mean is that the user should still be able to highlight and....
As I mentioned in the other thread , I installed Ubuntu last night, and I am quite happy with the
result. And again, as I said there, the font rendering is something that give room for wanting
something better. The question is, can we use TrueType fonts with Linux, and specifically Ubuntu?
Is it as simple as copying the font files (.ttf) into a particular directory? Or do we need to
install or configure something? If it is simple as copying the required fonts to a particular
folder/directory, which directory should they be copied to? Edit: The fonts in Linux se....

When choosing font for your website, do you go by what you like or what you think your users will
like? We all want webpages that are easy to read and attract more visitors. Selecting a font can
significantly affect the feel and usability of a webpage. There has been some research done
suggesting that people in general prefer sans-serif fonts. San-serif fonts, or non-decorated fonts
don't have extra lines around letters. Some examples: Arial, Verdana, Tahoma. Examples of serif
fonts: Times New Roman, Georgia. I am curious to what people fonts people prefer to read....

I didnt find a suitable catagory for this tutorial so posting it out here, Mods please find a
suitable place for this if i am wrong. Allright, lets get started. Almost everyone now owns a
Nokia, and out of that almost 70% use SymbianOS phones (S60). You can change the themes the
wallpapers etc on your phone, but i assume that a few of you would like to change only the Font.
Nokia uses its default font called the NokiaSans . This is hard coded and set in the ROM of your
phone, so that whenever we format the phone, the same font is taken and used. Many of you might hav....
A lot of web designers run into the same problem of wanting a certain font type, but the question
comes up "How do I guarentee the font to show up without the viewer's computer to install the
font on the computer?" it's easy, just follow these steps. The first thing you have to do is
download and install Weft 3 from microsoft, it's free, the download link is on that page. the
easiest way you can embed a font is by using the wizard and follow the steps commanded to you.
Easy, but what if you really want to know how the program works, or don't want to....
While trying to show someone the mysterious symbols used to create "The Matrix" source code, I
realized that most people have no need to use the East Asian input services offered in Windows XP
but they still may want to know how to play with the options. Additionally, there may be many
Eur-Asian people throughout the world that don't know that they can use their native language
when sending emails to their families abroad;. Or even type letters in their native script. Well,
in an effort to increase the public knowledge of this service, I decided to write this tuto....
I am looking for a freeware application to convert fonts between different formats. Mainly I need
one to convert Mac fonts to PC fonts and/or Opentype (new cross-platform format). I do alot of
freelance design work and work between Mac and PC alot, and the font issue is really becomming a
frustrating problem. I was using a trial version of the newest Crossfont and that worked perfectly,
but the trial ended. I suppose when I get some money I can buy Crossfont or Transtype, but for the
time being I really can't afford it. Does anyone know of a freeware application....
I have made a website, and at the top of the page I have a title. I've used a font only found on
Microsoft Office, and when I view it with a different computer, it doesn't show it as the same
font! How do I make it viewable to people who don't have office? /huh.gif' border='0'
style='vertical-align:middle' alt='huh.gif' /> ....
Using ttf fonts in Linux While working in Linux and wanting to work with the GIMP, I mainly
lacked my fonts, the ones I had in Windows, so needless to say I had to fix this. So here is how I
do it /smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /> First you will
have to make a folder to store your ttf fonts in, normally I use /usr/share/fonts/ttf/ as folder.
You will have to do this as root, so su - (password) mkdir /usr/share/fonts/ttf/ chmod 755
/usr/share/fonts/tff What we did here, was with "su -" change the user to root, the "-" just ....
Hey there, I've been slowly studying up on html while I earn enough credits to get a page and
I've run across two curious points to do with fonts and questions about them. You can use your
own fonts, but unless a visitor has the font you specify in your source code, they won't see it,
but you cann't upload a font to where you upload your site page files and reference it
there...does anyone know why this is? And secondly, I have yet to run across a list of fonts that
are loaded by default on various operation systems. Does a list of fonts that automatica....
I'm using Gimp for a few weeks. Yesterday I dowloaded some fonts... ok... many fonts
/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /> about 1000. I split them
into folders (about 150 in each one), and i tried to add them into my gimp. I seved about 400, maybe
500 fonts, and everything were ok. But when i add next patr of my fonts, gimp dont want to save
them, and after restart, i still have got those 400 fonts. Anyone knows why i can't add more
fonts?....
