| | I think the best for the money is a nikon d70, it is one of the cheapest SLRs, but is excellent quality, very fast with ful manual control features. Only downside is that it has only 6mps. My second choice is the Panasonic DMC-FZ20, this has got a great lens for a compact camera. chris

I think Canon's EOS cameras are pretty good. I'm using 10D right now.

Good cameras come with a beautiful price tag... I would highly recommend the Camedia C-370ZOOM and Premeier DC2302.For the DC2302, just bring lots of spare rechargerable batteries and a recharger.

Nikon, of course! I have Nikon's lower-end Digital Camera with 2.1 Mega Pixel! It has 3x optical zoom and 4x digital zoom. What more- it can shoot video clips too - though without sound. But thats OK. Rest all Higher-end Nikon cameras have sound too. So, dont invest your money in anything else.

It all depends on what you want to pay and how "pro" you are... There are so many types and so many price classes. I guess there is one golden rule: don't get fixed on the "megapixel", there is many more to it...

I think the best kind would be professional, because it's not that hard to use, and can do lots of things.

I am using Panasonic DMC-FZ20 , it is pretty good . However , Nikon D70 is a D-SLR camera , it is not equal to Panasonic DMC-FZ20 . If your budget tell you suitable to buy Nikon D70 . I think you do not buy Panasonic DMC-FZ20 . The quailty of Nikon D70 is much better then Panasonic DMC-FZ20 .

i bought me a hp 850 about 2 years ago. it was a great camera at that time. i wanted an impressive zoom, and the hp 850 has an 8x optical zoom and was affordable. 4mpx and stuff. but the borders get a bout "rounded", straigh lines become curved at the edges. besides that, it's a good cam for amateurs. the batteries last really long! screen is good. another bad thing is that you can't save pictures in tiff. only jpeg and their compression lacks precision when taking pictures of thin lines. if i had the money, i'd go for a canon eos or a nikon. whatever you do, go for a traditional photography brand: canon, olympus, nikon,... the most crucial part of your cam is the lens and those brands have heaps of experience there

The cam ain't that expensive eighter, in Norway you may get if for less than 4 000 NOK, 400 pounds or 800 UDS.

I did not see a word here about Fuji Finepix, did I miss it? I use Fuji S9500 and Fuji S9600, - 10MP, zoom (optical and electronic) and you can do all settings yourself, unless you want to work in Auto, which usually gives great result. Lenses are OK, clear, and you can set the camera for either 3:2 or 4:3 ratio. I like them and use them a lot. For film, I use PENTAX cameras, one that I bought in 1976, and I use that a lot as well.

I'm a Nikon user for a lot of years, all of my SLR equipment is Nikon, but in my opinion Canon is better for compact cameras, the lens are more clear and the AF system performs very well at low light conditions. I think Nikon has little interest in this low end market and their compact cameras are not so good as it's brand sounds. But in the SLR market, my vote is for Nikon. D70s is a very good camera, and D200 is impressive and outperforms other more expensive "pro" cameras. Canon Digital Rebel is also a good alternative for SRL, this is a very good camera to keep in mind. If you like compacts, Canon IXUS series have a very nice lens and a really pocket size (and price). The trick is not to affiliate to a single brand, but to look at the best of each one. You can get a lot of camera information and reviews at dpreview.com they have also image samples at full resolution and comparisons between brands.

I really don't know anymore, there are some great camera's but I think nowadays it doesn't make a great difference wich you buy. I got a Olympus e300 myself. I'm really happy with it! But there is one camera who is getting very close to be the best of the best. I forgot the brand but its a camera with 22 Megapixels. Now that's really something

Compact Camera Quandary
(0) I'm currently in the market for a new digital camera. My current one is... less then desireable
to say the least. It's a 2.1mp Fuji finepix A205. While it was fine in its day, that day has
long since passed and now its bulky, slow, low res, and low iomage quality. It's time for an
upgrade. Unfortunately I'm broke. I'm hoping to spend about $200-$250 CDN on the camera
(plus buying an extra memory card), sticking closer to the 200 end of things. Now this isn't
such a big request except that I want it more for point and click then for a planned phot....
Getting The Most Out Of Canon Digital Rebel XT?
(1) Not too long ago I bought a Canon Digital Rebel XT. It was my first SLR camera and I've been
really pleased with what I've managed to do with it so far. I have the basic 18-55mm lens that
came in the box and a very basic 75-300mm lens that I bought later on. I was wondering what to do I
have to do (hardware wise) to take my photography to the next level? I was wondering about maybe
experimenting with some filters. Heard polarizers were good. Also I was thinking about buying an
inexpesinve ( <$150) Macro lens to get some interesting close up shots. So if anybody h....

Switching To Digital: Stories

film, but a good friend of mine just went through the heart-wrenching process of dec....

Film Vs Digital
Which camp are you? (30) With the digital photography rapidly taking over film photography, which camp do you belong to?
There are those who use digital cameras and scoff at film, and there are those who straddle the two,
