| | I wanted to grab a look at how the other members' sites looked. Searching through the forums is good enough to retrieve the address of their websites. However, quite a few of the links are dead.
So, I decided to make a script to do this job for me. Here's a screenshot of the directory listing process.

Very interesting, I'm wondering how it works though? I just notice that it found 108 members when I went to the site, although that can't be them all since I'm not on the list But yea it's pretty cool and would be useful for people trying to actually explore the world of asta

Basically, it simulates browser activity, navigates through the forums and grabs the names of the members along with the site address. Not all of the Hosting requests are properly structured and moved to the APPROVED ACCOUNTS forum. As a result, many users are not listed. In your case, the approved request does not exists under the approved accounts forum. Another technique I employed was to get the list of all the hosted members through the memberlist panel and look for their account request posts. Actually, that was the prototype to the current directory listing process. It can be accessed at http://ntek.astahost.com/test/astahostdirectory/method1.php

Very nice. I see you have me on it Too bad some of the urls don't work and even still not .astahost.com urls. I should put an index page on my site so I could get hits off of this list lol. Very good program in my opinion. It will come in useful some time I am sure. Im looking forward to the perfected version. Thanks, Sparkx

astahost webhosting is great. I wonder how could i include my site in the list? I tried submitting my site to google for them to index it and i think that it would take for a long time before they can index my site. is there any way to build traffic into my site?

I have two questions: - When you are not logged to the forum the script seems to not work, is it is a bug or the script only works when you are logged in for security reasons???
- Tell me the progress bar that you implement is made with ajax or in pure php???
I have one suggestion: Add some text to the status image by using the ALT or TITLE attribute, better if you choose both of them. Best regards,

Thanks for the feedback. QUOTE(TavoxPeru @ Apr 11 2007, 10:57 AM) When you are not logged to the forum the script seems to not work, is it is a bug or the script only works when you are logged in for security reasons??? It is not necessary for me to be logged in to the forum. The script seems to hang once in a while because of relying heavily on Java Script. QUOTE(TavoxPeru @ Apr 11 2007, 10:57 AM) Tell me the progress bar that you implement is made with Ajax or in pure Php??? Pure HTML, I should say. The script has now been updated with the following changes:- > Added new technique to search for hosted members. > Validates link address and only shows the links if the link appears valid. > Patched Non Internet Explorer browser bug - Non IE Browser will show site status as text instead of the Green and Red images. > Improved Overall Speed of operation. Wow, I really like it, checking out the new changes now. And don't worry I didn't hold it against it that I wasn't on it, was just curious which method you were making use of But yes the technology is very cool indeed. once you get it to a stage where you feel it is "complete" (I know we all have different stages of development that we feel our own creations are done heh) you could probably show it to M^E or OpaQue and see if they're interested in throwing it somewhere on the site. It'd be a cool feature to have especially for new prospective users interested in seeing what astahost offers thus far. Again, great idea and great job.

I can note that some sites for example aren't hosted on the main domain they got here, some of them use addon domains, subdomains for their sites. :-D

Here are the latest additions:- > Added new attrbiutes: Member Since, Posts and an average value of Posts per day. > Some code optimizations towards an object oriented approach. I am also thinking about adding something like a summary which at the ends lists members like:- - Member with the highest page rank site.
- The oldest hosted member.
- The newest hosted member.
- The most active hosted member (calculated via the Posts/Day attribute).
- The least active hosted member.
I also wanted to ask if all the members listed in the hosted group are actually hosted. illusion for instance, seems to have joined the forum way back in 2004, but has only 96 posts. Similar cases exist with abhay & polarysekt. One more thing, I would like to request everybody to keep their site link updated in their profile, the script overrides the previous entries (those found from hosting requests) with this value, if found.

QUOTE(turbopowerdmaxsteel @ Aug 5 2007, 01:36 AM) By Historical Page, do you mean a change log? I haven't kept any such log for this script except for my posts here on Asta. Yes, something like a change log, but with some enhancements, like screen shots, statistics or even with different pages for every version developed where someone can view and test it. Best regards,

Yeah v6 is up and running. With v 5, I modified the core code to tackle various issues. The number of sites has certainly decreased, but I thought it was down to the fact that invalid links are not listed. I will look into this matter, right away. Thanx for reporting! UpdateThis issue has now been fixed. After finishing v 4 I started working on the Trap17 version. The current versions are modified forms of the same. In Trap17, 30 links are listed per page whereas over here its 20. This is what led to some accounts being skipped.

Hi, As I'm still new into this board, can't I say for sure if it dosn't allready exist.
By the way did I the other day req for language files to diffrent PHP scripts. I did investigate the
rplys I did get, but my conclusion was that I might do it by myself, and I'm also almost
finished with it. What I would like to say is that I don't do this just for my self, and when
I'm finished would I of cause share it with me to others, and why not share it to other members
of this board. I don't think that it would be the last time that I'm doing...
