| | I have just signed up a few minutes ago, but when I try to get into my FTP, this is the error that I get:

Any way to solve this? I have no idea what could be wrong, I logged in with these details:
Host name: ftp://ftp.mediyama.astahost.com
User: mediyama
Until then I'll use the file manager in the Cpanel.. |

I've tried using nslookup on the host name you specified, but my DNS server says it "can't find ftp.mediyama.astahost.com: Non-existent domain". I don't have a problem on my subdomain though. astahost subdomains should be working right away, so you will probably need to wait until Monday to get help from the admins.

I followed your advice , xboxrulz. The page says that there is no problem with my account configuration, yet I still can't access the FTP.

If you are using EI7 than you need to go to internet options and then go to the advanced tab, then scroll down to Use Passive FTP (for firewall and DSL modem compatibility) make sure this is checked. Also you may want to change the your Security setting to med-low

I don't use IE for my FTP, the web-based FTP in the Cpanel does work, but I can't access it using SmartFTP. I have no firewall set.

Maybe a slight modification of the host name would help? For example ftp://mediyama.astahost.com

w8 some minutes if u register that a few time.. or try to create another subdomain.. thats a normal error on hosting servers

You may still need to change the setting, most programs use the IE configuration files. I do now the most browsers are easy to use with ftp, including IE7. I know i have no firewall on my system its self, but i still have to use this setting because of my host.

Diffirent hosting companies use slightly diffirent setup for ftp connections, you can try various setting one of them will work. For example if your domain is www.muztagh.com you can try: www.muztagh.com muztagh.com ftp.muztagh.com or the ip address as the ftp address. One of above will work eventualy.

Nice to see if works.  May I suggest you to try FileZilla ftp client (http://filezilla.sourceforge.net/ ), it worked with all the sites I saw till now. I also was never able to put smartftp at work, and I'm not confused with that, I simply use FileZilla everywhere.

Thanks everyone who wanted to help me get it. Part of the problem wasn't my mistake though  Thank you very much! It works now! It only works in Win Explorer though, not in SmartFTP.

Ftp.abhiram.be - Unable To Determine Ip Address
Newly registered a domain, can't connect (7) I registered for a new domain at .be, and looks like I can't connect to my ftp account. I'm
behind a firewall so I've got to use net2ftp . It's been quite some time since I used ftp.
I used to upload files using the upload script in cpanel. If I try to upload a file, I'm getting

Uploading Problems
Unable to upload any files. (4) I first used Frontpage to upload my site....it never used to be uploaded completely..some folders
were incompletely uploaded. I tried smartftp but i got the folowwing message: QUOTE Connection
closed. Server timeout. An established connection was aborted by the software in your host
machine. Connection closed. I dont know what to do next. Should i try another software??
After every unsuccessful attempt i used my file mamager to delete the public_html folder and created
another folder with the same name. Can anyone help me??....
