Tips To Dramatically Increase Adsense Revenue

Transcendum
Yes, I know. Too many people have been talking about AdSense lately that it's no big deal anymore. I used to think so too. But I'm starting to change my mind and re-think that attitude smile.gif...

Yesterday, Suzie Dewey, who is an AdSense Publisher, posted a very interesting and very informative interview on one of Google's blogs. The interview was with a guy called Ivan Heneghan, who is a well-known AdSense Optimization specialist.

This interview covers many simple ways to increase the revenue you earn from you AdSense advertisement almost 70-fold. I know it sounds crazy, but remember, this is stated by a very accomplished specialist, reviewed by a member of the AdSense Publishing Support Staff, and is featured on an official Google blog. This is respectable, verifiable information smile.gif.

Here's a link to that interview: Meet Ivan, the Optimiser!

I hope you enjoy it and make use of it.

Good one man biggrin.gif In most cases people just give up on Adsense without trying it the proper way.. If utilized properly, it can earn you pretty big bucks without moving a finger (literally).. I'm going to do a thorough reading of this - coz I'm one the "poor" adsense earners, although I've good faith in the product.

Yeah I know what you mean, m^e biggrin.gif

I don't know why, but lately it seems that everybody and their cousin are trying to raise hell on AdSense and Google in general. I have a thing or two against them myself, but I think people are bashing AdSense for the wrong reasons.

I've come across a really great resource for showing exactly what AdSense is all about. Even though that Website - which I'm affiliated with - is meant to advertise a certain product, the AdSense information presented there is complete, honest, and very straight-forward. Simply ignore any mention of that product and focus on what's written about the AdSense program.

Here's the link: About AdSense...

Anyway, returning to the matter at hand... I really believe AdSense is a very decent service. But Google's strategy with their services has been very clear from the beginning... If you're good to us, we will be good to you!

So I really don't understand why people get all upset when they get banned from AdSense because they broke its Terms of Service. I mean, come on... Do you really believe you can screw a company like Google and get away with it? It's their right to ban you.

Hmmm.... It looks like I got a little off-topic huh.gif. Alright, I'll shut up now... but I'll be back later smile.gif.

I don’t like these kinds of sites, Goooooooooogle them selves keep suggesting on using those wide banners, but the point is that you are suppose to deliver the actual content to your visitor and not the ads, now-a-days ads are actually becoming the contents, check out any webmaster freebie or webmaster resource site and I give a 100% Guarantee that these site surely will have at least 1 pop-up ad, a big large ad at the top of the page (where generally the site's name should be there). I know that these site are providing the content to us for free but not at the stake for putting up ads at odd places.

Refer to any gamming site, or any site that offers free PC/PS cheats, you will find the content at the bottom of their page, and you will nearly have to go through lines and lines of ads.

I had signed up for Adsense nearly a year back, from then I have been seeing sites that will help me on optimizing my ads and hence improving my chance of getting more revenue from my site. All most all of the Adsense ad optimization sites keep referring to the same point i.e. have large banners exactly at the top or at the middle of your page, but no one realizes the fact that its not the positioning of the ad which is the main factor, getting a lot of traffic is the main factor and not just plain traffic will do the job, you need target traffic, traffic that wants your content, not just roaming traffic (they wont even give a look at your content). The second factor is that how well your ads get blended into your page's template. You should actually make it look as if it is your content (this feature is provided Adsense namely, Adsense for content). So I actually gave you the actual Adsense optimization tips, see here actually speaking I am not a professional or something like that, I am a Google Adsense Publisher, I would recommend you this site (not mine, or anyway related to me) which actually focuses on the traffic and much more forgotten factors about Adsense, which this site reminds us about. That is one of the greatest, most correct comments I've ever heard about this subject smile.gif.

You have a good point there. But just because a Webmaster is too greedy to actually strike a balance between his visitors' benefit and his own benefit does not mean we should consider everything those Webmasters do wrong. I mean, sure, they make a huge mistake by focusing too much - sometimes solely - on the ads and forget about content. But I believe the best way to fix this is by spreading the word about the best balance between the two opposites, ads and content.

Wouldn't you agree? smile.gif

Those are the words of someone who really knows what he/she is talking about smile.gif. I agree with you completely... Targeted traffic and ad-blending are key factors in getting the most our of your advertisement. But I still maintain that we can do both of these tasks, while benefitting from the experience and research of the specialists.

WOW! That is an amazing Website. Truck-load of information. The problem is that it has too many information that one can get lost inside unless one really takes the time and patience to walk through it in order. I think this Website is a gold mine for someone who is serious about making it online with AdSense.

Thank you for an excellent contribution, ganeshn11. Keep it coming cool.gif

Google's AdSense program is probably the best affiliate program on the internet today. With it's content scanning algorithm to adjust advertising and the fact it takes in to account the users location as best as it can, it has proven to be one of the highest converting click through programs to date.

In this article, I hope to help you maximize your revenue earning potential with Google's AdSense by teaching you about how to display your ads, creative effective ads, and how maximize your click through rates.

Color Scheme

There is a couple different ways to handle your advertising color schemes. Some webmasters believe that they should keep the advertising as low-key as possible, these webmasters normally make the background and border on the ads to the same as their website. Often they do this in hopes that the user will not realize it is an advertisement. The other thought is to try and use colors to draw the users eye and force them to look at the advertising. I've read quite a few websites that analyze colors in advertising and how people react to different colors, they believe by selecting certain colors you can influence the click rate. I personally run several sets of advertising on my website, and it has been my experience that more colorful advertising seems to convert better. However there is many more factors involved, such as location of the advertising.

Location of AdSense Advertising

Almost every webmaster will agree that you can maximize your revenue and click through rate by the location of your advertising. Google's AdSense website suggests that you keep your advertising, "above the fold." Above the fold, means it doesn't require the user to use their scroll bar to see the advertising.

Keeping the advertising to the left of the page, such as in the navigation bar can also be a very important factor in converting those users. People read from left to right and you want the first thing they see to be your advertising.

The final tip for article location is inline advertising, ones that are integrated in to lists, and content. Many websites have bulleted lists or link farms, with the Google AdSense advertisings at the top of that list. This can often fool the user in to thinking it is part of your list, but may anger some users. I personally like to put a block of advertising in the middle of my articles, or near the end, so the user must read around or beside the advertising. This makes it more noticeable, and much harder to ignore.

Text or Graphical Advertising?

AdSense offers you the ability to put graphical ads, text ads, or a mixture of the two. Graphical advertising in general seem to yield far worse click through rates, I believe that users are used to viewing banners for so many years, that it is ingrained in internet society just to ignore them now. AdSense seems to have far fewer advertisers using graphical ads also, which may lead to empty advertising space on your website, if a graphic can't be provided.

Importance of Content

Making money on AdSense can only be done with content. If you don't have quality content, you aren't going anywhere. When you post the AdSense advertising code on your website, when it is viewed, the Google MediaPartners bot comes to your website, scans the website, then creates advertisements based on the content it scanned. Content reigns supreme when it comes to AdSense, the better your content, the more it will pay off! If you can have an average page of 300-500 words with a very specific subject you are going to do well on AdSense, try to keep your subject very tight and don't expand on too many subjects on one single page. This will keep targeted advertising on your pages, which should convert far better for a user that is looking for a specific subject!

Try to keep your articles under two pages in length, if you have longer articles, break them apart and make two pages. This will help by giving the website more advertising space, and hopefully if you have a user reading, twice the exposure!

Keywords, Relevant and Targeted Advertising

Sometimes no matter how hard you work at keeping a nice subject based article, you just can't get the keywords picked up for the kind of advertising you want to see. A prime example of this is with my own name! My name is Ken Dennis, often due to my last name, a page will return AdSense advertising about "Dennis the Menace" and though I am a bit of a menace, so are those kind of advertisings! There are two ways to handle advertising that doesn't match your content. The first way is to change your article, or add more keywords that will sway the advertisements in a different direction. The second way is to go in to the AdSense website and ban the websites that you don't want to see. Ad Filtering can be very helpful, and taking out ads you don't like or support can help increase your click through rates.

Google AdSense Search Engine

AdSense let's you install a Google search engine on your website, this allows users to search the world wide web, or just your website. This is an excellent way to help your users find the information they want inside your website, and it provides you with even more advertisings based on the keywords the search for. Even when they leave to do a search, all the advertisements if clicked are credited towards you! So not only does the search engine provide you with functionality, it provides you with one more revenue source, with targeted advertisements based on EXACTLY what the user searches for!

Rohan,

This article is completely and perfectly copied-and-pasted from somewhere else. It's actually floating all over the Web, that I had trouble finding a good source for it. But here's one:

http://www.ppcprime.com/pay-per-click-adve...nse-revenue.php

It's against the rules of this forum to just copy and paste someone else's content with both using quotes and providing a link to the source of your quote.

But what I found really cute was how you finished that article with...

Hello everyone,

Ok, here's an update to this thread smile.gif...

Google has just published another case-study for their AdSense program. This time, it's about GPSWorld.com, which is a Website for GPS (global positioning satellite) users ranging from the military to consumers who are outdoors enthusiasts. The site averages 430,000 page views and approximately 115,000 unique visitors per month. Yes, it IS a big company smile.gif.

So now, Troy Peterson, Web Operations Manager of GPSWorld.com, announces that the company experienced a 100% increase in their AdSense ad revenue by simply optimizing the placement and format changes of AdSense's ad units and boxes.

My point here is: perhaps Ivan (take a look at the first post in the thread) was exaggarating. But his methods are valid and they work. It'd be a bad idea if we let the exaggaration stop us from realizing that and putting it to our own advantage smile.gif.

Anyway, for those of you who are interested, here's a link to the GPSWorld.com's case-study: Spotlight on GPSWorld.com!

UPDATE:

Hello again, everyone smile.gif...

We've been talking about how ad-placement can noticably affect your Google AdSense revenue -- both in a good way and in a bad way.

This time, here's what one guy did to his personal Website, and how it affected his Google AdSense revenue...

Thomas Zehetner is a german fellow who has his own 'technology news' portal, PCFreunde.de . This has been only a "hobby" Website; Thomas used to do it merely because it's fun for him. But when he heard about Google AdSense, he decided to give it a try. There were actually some results, but nothing as spectacular as he would've hoped for.

So he decided to changed his ad-placement from the side of his pages and "into the content." Now, this is important. Remember when we talked about GPSWorld.com? This wasn't a "content" Website; it was corporate. Their content was only interesting for people for are actually looking for a certain product with a purchase in mind.

But Thomas' Website is different. It IS a content Website. His visitors come back to his Website because he provides information they'd like to know and stay up-to-date on it. So you see, when people visit his Website, they "focus" on the content. They don't want to be distracted by looking at Sidebars, Top-Banners, or any of that. Their eyes are riveted to the content itself, and the content alone.

So when Thomas placed the AdSense ads INSIDE his content, what happened to AdSense's revenue? Well, it tripled. Yup, that's right... three times more.

So what's the lesson we can learn from this? Simple, really. Content Websites have much, much better chances of promoting anything they want to as long as they make sure it shows IN the content itself. Of course, that requires that you first offer great content with amazing value so that people actually WANT to go to your Website constantly to read it.

All the best,

Reply

Yeah, this is really great, Personally as my Sites are usually Informational and stuff and I don't really have my own Communities, this really has potential for me to put the google ads into the content and I will try and see if my revenue rises a little, but the thing I am afraid that my CRT will rise, because people might be pushing on the ad when I imagine it, because my google impressions are not to high. wink.gif
