I bought an electronic devices this morning. It is more like a PDA, has touch screen with its light pen, cellphone support with any type of card, 12 megapixels cameras on the front and on the back added with a cool flash light. I saw the hardware specification on the box, it also has 2GB memory, dual 64 bit processor 3 GHz, 2TB mini harddrive, 1GB graphic memory, 32bit sound, complete network support (wireless, mini RJ-45, bluetooth, infra red). On the left, there's a mini RJ-45, IRDA receiver, and 2 mini USB. On the right there are sound connector (speaker, mic, line in), and 1 mini video output (complete with additional converter jack accessories). The box says that I can watch tv and listen to radio, with special bundled software I will be able to record them too ! Bundled software : Operating System, Office, Multimedia Player and Recording, Phone Manager and Answering Machine, Internet Browser, Instant Messenger, Network Manager, Anti Virus, etc. If I want more applications, I can install them later. It is only $450, very cheap isn't it ? Now it's time to try it ! I turn it on, in less then a second, the screen appears and ready to use. I read the step by step guide on the manual book. First chapter is about how to function the devices to be a desktop computer. Get a USB hub, plug usb keyboard and mouse. The usb and mouse icons appear on the top of screen. Plug video converter jack and connect a monitor, monitor icon appears. Click Start - Settings - Mode - Desktop Mode. A common desktop view appears on the monitor and I can use it as a desktop computer. But there's a warning not to shutdown the computer. I try it anyway by pushing the on/off button, the screen goes blank and it says : Sorry, this is just a dream. Wake Up !

What makes me laugh slightly is that, given a few years or perhaps a little more, devices similar to that one might be pretty commonplace. Miniaturisation is going at such a ridiculous rate that the idea above is by no means impossible, nor unlikely. Now the slightly scary thought: if we can make computers that small that powerful, what are the desktop ones going to be like...? I'll leave that thought hanging for you to ponder...

That would be a pretty awesome PDA, I thought it was real for a second when I was reading it lol. Regarding the 12MP camera, they have a lot of "12 MP" cameras in Asia on cell phones and PMPs, but the stupid thing is that they are interpolated, so the camera would actually have a 5MP censor, but the pictures would come out as 12MP, the quality would be so terrible, even though the picture would be huge. Maybe in a few years, such a computer would exist...

QUOTE(Laurence @ Nov 11 2007, 08:16 PM) That would be a pretty awesome PDA, I thought it was real for a second when I was reading it lol. Maybe in a few years, such a computer would exist... Actually, before I forget to talk about cameras, the idea of a "modulated" design - so that you can quite literally build your own system from a large number of seperate chunks of hardware (ranging from, say, RAM to a built-in camera) strikes me as a damned awesome idea. Imagine being able to replace parts of your phone / PDA / whatever with a few simple flicks of a switch. Compatibility could be an interesting problem, but if all of the parts identify what they are and the component is in the "knowledge-base" of the rest of the system then it would know what to do with it. Think of it as the next level of plug-and-play.

Disable Annoying Information Bar In Ie
"Your current security settings put your computer at risk" (7) Ever since Microsoft released SP2 I got realy annoyed by the fact the every single click has to be
verified because the operating system thinks you are stiill a noob. One of the more annoying
"features" is that windows asks everytime I want to open an executable that I downloaded or I want
to run over the network. Strange enough, this is not a windows-feature but an Internet Explroer
feature, so this is the place where we have to disable this. Now, because Internet Explorer thinks
mallware has changed this setting, it warns you in internet explorer with an message in the....

Proper Airflov Through A Computer Case
(0) Having correct airflow through your PC case is critical to your system running properly. Heat
buildup in a computer case can cause lockups, slowdowns and even shutdowns. You should carefully
consider the direction of the air when building a PC or when modifying an existing computer. Which
way should the case fans blow? The CPU fan attached to the heat sink should blow down onto the heat
sink and processor. Fresh air can be pulled in this way, but you will want additional fans installed
to help bring cooler air into the case. An 80mm case fan installed in the front of ....
Best Program To Tune Up An Old Computer?
(9) Alright, the computer I'm on now runs well, however, the laptop, which I received from my
Grandpa is a bit slow, in fact, it is very, very slow. I'm pretty sure at some point, though, it
was a bit faster. Could anyone recommend me a program that could boost the speed by optimizing the
computer, or by deleting some clutter, or repairing the registry. I remember I've tried before
with some optimization programs on this computer, but since I used free programs (I don't want
to pay for a program for the slow Laptop, either) I could only use half of the optimi....
Your first computer?
Old school PC systems, what was your first!? (50) I remember my first PC. We had a Tandy 1000 EX, and it ran off of 256k memory. We had an old green
grey black and white monitor that ran louder than any other appliance! Everything was MSDOS, and if
it weren't for preprogrammed games, we would run them from the DOS prompt. I guess it was
pretty reliable, but the newer systems at the time were all for play, and my parents thought it was
best to get some other usage out of it. We did a lot of Basic programming, but we used to play
King's Quest and RPG games like that back then. At school, we began to play wit....
New Computer
What do you recommend? (54) Ok well we are considering purchasing a new computer. We've looked at a few different options,
mainly Dell. Some of the features are already decided, like this: Windows Vista Home Premium 2GB
RAM At least 320 GB hard drive 22" wide-screen monitor The graphics card and sound card
aren't really such a big deal, we do not use this PC for gaming/video-editing anyways. The PC
will primarily used for Office applications, web development, general Internet/email use, watching
DVDs and learning about Windows Vista (I can't wait to use User Account Control!). The....

System Stops Responding
Computer suddenly freezes while on the Internet (10) I am using a Pentium 4 computer (256 MB RAM) with windows 2000 service pack 4 installed in it. While
using Internet through a cable braodband modem, the computer sometimes freezes completely. It no
more responds to any keystroke or any left/ right mouse click. I then have to restart the computer
to be able to use it again. I have noticed it happened once or twice when I entered some text in the
Google search box and pressed the enter key. Has anybody experienced this problem and know how to

Dell Computer "shuts Down" When Opening Email
(31) I have a Dell Optiplex GX 270 computer here and the problem is that it shuts down randomly when

network cause issue this kind of problem? I'm going to see if the other machines are doing this
as well. The funny thing is that the machine itself still seems to be running. The light on the

Computer Suddenly Turning Off
Well it seems my computer doesn't like me. Sad huh? (25) My computer has been acting in a weird way for some time, and I don't remember doing anything
that could cause this hardware-wise. I'll try to describe it: After some time powered on, the
system suddenly *poof* shuts down in a harsh way. I press the Power button but it doesn't turn
on. Then, I remove the power cable from it's back, wait for some hour(s) and turn it on ok,
until it turns off again. I'd risk also to say that the 'uptime' I get after a shutdown
is somehow proportional to the time I left the power cable off it. Some would say it&....

network manually for each computer. All he did was set up a wireless network using the wizard and
then set up a home or small office network using another wizard. I did it again with my new desktop
but it didn't work. Even though i set permissions for the firewall to allow it a....
