Smarty Pants Needed Here:

When my boyfriend re-formatted my computer he set up the whole computer as if it was his...

I have Window's XP Professional.

I somewhat found a way to make my own password for the administrator.

I do not know how to get into that account anymore, I believe I could figure it out.

My friend walked me through it before.

I don't know how to change the actual settings so I can have my Task Manager back.

This is a serious pain in my butt and I would love it if someone is willing to tell me how to get it away!!!

Thank You Very Much.

Task manager.. Is that the one where you press Ctrl + Alt + Delete to bring up the thing that can kill applications and processes?

dXbLauReNdXb (wow, great name), if you can't get into the administrator account, you can't do anything about it to change it. Unless you hack in or something... You might have to install windows on your computer again to gain access...

And jet, you're right, it is the hotkey that brings up the process manager.

Well, if you can possibly get into the administrator account, that's the way to go. Alternately, ask your boyfriend.

You can use 'gpedit.msc' for getting the taskmanger back. You must be logged in as administrator to use the group policy editor. You can change many things there. You will find the socalled "ctrl+alt+del-options" in the User Configuration-folder. Press Start - Run - type "gpedit.msc" and the group policy editor appears. Good Luck! :-)

Hi,This is Sunny. IF your task manager has been disabled then do the following steps:-
1)Go to start>Run>type "gpedit.Msc" without quotes.
2)The group policy editor appears.
3)Double Click on user configuration-->Administrative Templates-->System-->CTRL+ALT+DEL options-->Remove task manager-->Choose the "disabled" option and click "OK".
4)Thatz it. ENJOY!

Hello,

I will tell you another way which will solve many of your problems including the task manager problem. first of all you need to download the iso image for booting the pc.
http://www.son.web.id/2007/03/14/windows-x...nipextv2k50903/
this is the link to download it. After downloading it to your computer you have to burn it with a cd burner program like Nero or alternatives. After burning the cd you will need to boot the pc up with the cd inserted in.
For booting up the system you may need to setup the bios of the computer..
You may get into bios (which is the basic software of the hardware you own) by pressing the button (the button can be delete, F8, F10, F2).
You will see a blue screen or a screen with mostly formed of blue color.
You may see a menu with many choices. Generally you will need to enter the second item on the menu . After getting in the menu you will be looking for the word ( the word should be= boot up, sequence, priority, or HDD CD or DVD) Once you find the WORD you must change the sequence of the items (Hdd, CD or DVD). You have to set the sequence of the CD to the first.
After setting up the sequence you have to save and exit the bios.
Save and exit is generally located on the last item in the menu.
F10 is the general save and exit shortcut key on the most of the bios'es.
After saving and exiting the computer might reboot.
You may insert the cd .
Computer may boot up with the cd.
After the boot on the cd, you will see messsages.
These messages will be different than the ordinary windows boot messages.
The messages will end and you will be seeing a completely new windows. This is the windows prepared on the cd. That doesnt effect the windows you use.
You have to look for the start menu and the items on it. The menu might have a sub-menu of Windows or System settings.
In this menu you will see the programs that will help you to:
1) To create a new user with admin rights.
2) to set up or change everthing in windows.
3) install or delete anything on windows or on you hdd.
and so on..
