Dang! That is a great picture! Perhaps it would be even better if we could see it in the content with the background? As of now though, you've still got the lighting captured really well, as well as the ominous yet "clanly" feeling this seems to evoke. The shades on the story teller was done nicely and the shadows in the forefront added a nice touch. The not-quite-square shape of the pic fits its theme of coming from long ago.

Hey Jimmy89, thanks! Thanks, Arbitrary. And here it is. The article is published: Perma-linkOn an after look, I still see some mistakes with the render of the light, and the shadows. But I think I will just let it be.

Looks good Vyoma, and it's nice to see that you're really getting into vector art and doing many things with it. Yes I agree the lighting is nice, and I like how you've tried a more simplistic, but very colourful approach to this picture. I like the border to the picture as well. The roundness makes it really appealing and fun to look at, not to mention I think it makes the whole thing more eye-catching. Good stuff.

Another great illustration! I like the angular style and you did a nice job with the lighting on the guys body. I really love the gradient in the sky. Great contrast and use of figure-ground. The only thing that I find a little odd is the brown shape above the fire. Is that smoke or tepees in the background? i think it is a little ambiguous.

Thanks, foolakadugie. I tried a little research with the color-balance lesson you gave me for the other "Geese Formation" work. And yes, I was a bit stumped with that brown shape above the fire... I was actually trying to portray the play of light on the bush in the background, so that I can give a bit of depth to it. It did not work out well though.... May be I should have gone for some fragmented angular shapes to render the bush leaves itself. Anyway, I did not have much time, and I wanted to have some illustration for the above mentioned blog post.

Here is a work in progress I would like to share it with Astahosters. Lately, a friend of mine

gift her an artwork. And with this, I hope to improve my skills too. So, here goes. It is
still a work in progress . I used her photograph as a reference and worked on it from scratch in
Inkscape. The basic outline with flat colors is done, and I have just started to work o...

Well, here is another one of vector art that I created. It took roughly 2 hours from concept to
final stage in Inkscape. My friend who is in the team of authors for my blog has written an
extensive write-up on a nature related topic that dealt with parasatic blue butterflies (their
larvae), ants and wasps. I was pretty impressed by the write up and thought I should make a image
to accompany with it. So, I started doodling with stuff and got the concept. Then I fired up the
Inkscape and this is what I have: I attempted an caricature-cartoon like feel and also wan...

My Tribute To One Of My Favorite Anime Characters

I used to be a Dragonball fanatic many many years ago (before it became a trend in the US here). For
a time Akira Toriyama's (creator of Dragonball) style of artwork heavily influenced my own.
Since I havent drawn anything in years I thought it would be fun to post something from the height
of my skill as an amateur artist. As I recall I drew each form of Goku seperately then combined
them all in the end. Oh yeah, the alternate design for Super Saiayan 4 (bottom left) was created due
to the fact that I hated the design the animators chose in the GT series (It was...

My First Attempt At Vector Art In Illustrator
- pay phone (6)
Ok so this my first attempt at creating anything seriously in Illustrator, so if it looks like
I'm a little heavy handed and clumsy, I am right now...let me know what you all think though...
the original photograph I worked with was similar to this one, just a different crop and no
filters. Also, if anyone knows of any good Illustrator tutorials that they'd like to share,
I would appreciate it...I've already found that a pen and a tablet are two of my best friends
when it comes to Illustrator......
