Use the "! REPORT" at the bottom right of the concerned post, a mod will be aked to remove this post. Also don't answer such a post, because deletion can make you loose credits in case your answer is also deleted. Simply click "! REPORT" that's all.

Yes, use the Report option early and often. Any time I see an unsolicited advertisement I will report it and it usually gets removed within a few days. It is fine to tell the community if you have found a useful tool or even if you yourself have made a tool and would like to get the word out. I have to draw the line at blaitent advertisement. The usual offenders are virtual game currency traders (WoW gold) and the like. I do have to hand it to the moderators of Astahost for keeping most of the SPAM off of the board. From running a forum myself I know that it can sometimes be a full time job, especially if you become a target of automatic SPAMing software. Maybe one of these days I will have enough power to remove the SPAM for you

Yeah, I noticed that there are lots of spam for some time now, which is quite annoying, because you go to the topic of thinking to read something and you get some links or porno images which sucks, a waste of time and life I believe astahost forums got into some kind of bot spamming list or something like that, there are services like: "get your site announcement listed on 1500 forums online Today by posting only once" even though as I know those kind of sites are usually very fast banned from google and I believe other search engines.. So I could suggest, why don't astahost forums install some anti spam software for IPB or maybe even a registration, change the captcha or ask some random math question before registering and maybe the spam will go off? just my two cents.

Just do your share and report all spam posts you see, that will help our mods alot. Iam pretty sure that the spamers are a hand ful of guys if just not one. Probably using a proxy, maybe the admins should try to trace his ip to ban it or so i dunno. But he could be using an internet cafe, if i wanted to spam i would do that Anyways thx to the mods for the good work. Perhaps people who report posts should be awared, not on every report because then someone would spam and report those posts, but i dunno maybe the admins see who has been alot of help in fightign spam (via reporting) and reward him with something, small so than it can't be abused but worth clicking the button. Maybe 1 cent per reported post? it is easier to get one cent by posting (i dunno 1 word lol) than it is by creating a multi then making a spam post then reporting that post. It would encourage people to report instead of just ignoring spam posts. Incase a post is reported by several people, they all get the 1 cents. Just a thought , i doubt it would ruin the mycents system.

QUOTE Maybe 1 cent per reported post? No, I don't think it's a good idea, just from philosophical point, giving money for dilation has lead to great political errors (horrors ?) in some countries I will not mention her. However, the spirit is good, and maybe a "thanks for the help" PM could be a great idea.

I think the spam is pretty bad here but the mods clean it up fast so it doesn't bother me. I wonder why this site is targeted by spambots so much. It's not like this site is that big compared to some other forums. Anyway good job mods for deleting the spam so quick. I think the spam has been bad everywhere lately and not just astahost. I know that smf is normally really good with spam just had a huge wave of spam across the community. The higher ups said it was due to a new release of some spam thing that I cannot remember the name to and they were working on fixing it.

Since the change to MyCents there does seem to have been a bit more spam popping upon the forums. And then sometimes you just get jackasses showing up like the other day.

QUOTE (xboxrulz @ Dec 5 2008, 02:51 AM) It'll be ironic if we banned an IP that a moderator or admin got lol. Now, that's a catastrophe. The IP address is banned only for posting at astahost. I guess that he will be able to submit a ticket at Xistosupport in order to un-ban his IP address ? Or even a mail to support should work ?

There are also problems with banning IP. Remember, most ISPs around the globe prefer dynamic IP assigning. Thus, once we ban that IP, a legitimate user will no longer be able to access Astahost. It'll be ironic if we banned an IP that a moderator or admin got lol. Now, that's a catastrophe. xboxrulz

I suggest banning the ip of spammers, while they can still use fake ips or different computers or so,it would still make it harder for them. Or simply increase number of moderators and choose them so that at any time of the day there is one of them active to instantly detect spam and delete it.

QUOTE(Atomic0 @ Dec 3 2008, 08:40 AM) There seems to be people adding inappropriate images as part of their spam posts. Would there be any way to stop this? We are working on the general spam problem. When a spam is removed, the associated images also disappear.
