| | I have been experiencing slow connection on my WiFi network. There are 2 AP's (accesspoint) 1 is connected to the router upstairs, and the other is stand alone downstairs. Both the AP's are in WDS mode (bridged). I noticed when they are in WDS mode, the connection speed at the downstairs AP, slow down alot. But the connection to the AP upstairs is quite fast.
Modem --> AP 1 (WDS mode) ~~~~ (WIFI) ~~~~ AP 2 (WDS mode) ~~~~ Notebook
The AP1 (upstairs) is set as the master AP, & AP2 is the slave AP.
So why is the connection slow??? the signal strenght of both AP's is execellent.

You didn't tell your connection type(802.11b or 802.11g or 802.11n)but it speeds- down even if there is one wall so the wireless technologies didn't reach to cable technologies (cable is nearly 1GB per second). But it wont probably affect your internet connection (just in file transfer it would be slower) because an medium internet connection speed is 256 kbps(kilobytes per second)it is not even 1/1024 so, just in file transfer it would be slower.

By design and nature of the repeater product, you will suffer from speed down by roughly half.

Internet Connection Sharing Problems
(2) Hello, I am having some trouble setting up Internet Connection Sharing. Here is my setup. My
internet is through a neighbor who is sharing there internet with me wirelessly, so I don't have
any type of broadband modem, just a wireless card on my desktop PC. I have a linksys WRT54G router
connected to the desktop PC and tried following the guidelines for home networking, and works fine,
but no internet connection now. When I unhook my router then my internet connection comes back.
Its as if the computer is looking for internet on my network, and I dont know how t....

Remote Desktop Connection Question
(10) Is there some way that I can use remote desktop without it locking the user's screen? As if
i'm trying to troubleshoot a problem over the network i want them to be able to see what i'm
doing to their machine so they can learn, but I can't figure out how to do it. I don't need
it to have dual keyboard and mouse input, I just need the monitor on their end to be enabled as well
as mine. Possibly a third-party program is available for this?....
Cable Internet Connection Requires Aol To Go Online?
(17) Just took a look at one of my user's computer and found a very strange problem. For some odd
reason, he must sign into AOL in order to use his internet. I would understand if this is required
if he is using AOL as his main connection, but he is using a dedicated cable service line. The same
thing is happening to his other computer (requires him to sign onto AOL first before he can
connect). After playing around with it for a while, Internet Explorer connected without
AOHell's assistance. I made sure AOL was completely signed off and tried a few more websites and....
Layered Networking
barring a networked computer from using a shared connection (6) Since I haven't had any luck with my internet connection sharing problem which i posted
previously, due to the terrible quality of service here, i've decided a second connection may be
the answer. I won't give up the cable because i also have 2 phone lines on it, plus cable tv,
but I will get a 256K DSL connection in addition to my 128K cable. The benefits of this will be that
it's double, plus i'll get the full 256K connection for myself without having to share it
with other users. (I explained previously about the 10to1 ratio used here in pakistan)....
Losing Wireless Connection In Power User Account
(4) Hi, for some reason I can't connect online to my wireless router in a Power User account. I
have to fiddle around with it a lot to make it work (disable wireless adapter, uncheck box so
windows won't configure wireless...then set them back again and again...). I don't have any
problems connecting in my Administrator account. Is there a setting in Group Policy that is
affecting this loss connection? Again, it seems to happen a lot in the Power User account...because
I got it working and even restarted to log back in the same account - still online, so I sa....
How To Connect Computers In A Wi-fi Network
Peer-to-peer connection? (10) My parents have been persuading me over and over again to do something about our wireless internet
connection. No, its not that the router has any problems connecting the computers to the internet.
My problem is that i want to connect my computers together to enable the sharing of files,
programs, and most importantly, my printer. Unfortunately, I have no idea how to use the already set
up wireless connection to link all the computers together. I've done networking with cables yeah
but never with wireless. I've tried the wizards Windows XP provides to create ne....

Needing Wifi Solution
Getting around Sheet Metal (7) Ok, so here's the story: Where I live, there are two connection options. The first is Dial-Up,
which needless to say bites. The second is business-grade radio. My home, connected through Dial-Up,
is around 400 feet from my place of business, connected through the radio link. What I need to do is
connect the shop and the house within one network. Here's the problems I face: 1) Running a
wired network would be very expensive, as I would have to bury the CAT-5, install surge protectors,
and the line would have to cross a large stream. 2) The shop is totaly surou....

Poor Man's Wifi
(14) In the March issue of Popular Mechanics, there was an article about PC modding. Inside there, they
showed a pic of a homemade WiFi antenna, and gave a link to this site with instructions. Well,
yesterday at my friend's house, we made a prototype , but we need to remake it, because we
couldn't find a hosering, so we just attached the USB WiFi adapter to the sieve with wire, and
the cord is hanging down (if we had the hosering, it'd be going through a hole in the back of
the sieve). So, anybody like? Ya should, since it's cheap and a 12" could even g....
[connection Sharing] Dual Wan Port Routers?
(2) Hi, I've been thinking about getting a dual wan port router for awhile. It is my understanding
that I will beable to plug in 2 cable/dsl connections and beable to use the combined bandwith as

What inexpensive 100$ router would you guys recommend for this. Thanks, ....
[connection Sharing] The Strangest Thing I've Foun
(2) Hi, I'll put it simple but if you need more info on this, please ask. I have this problem with
the intranet of one of my cousin's clients. Suddenly, out of the blue (AFAIK), the PCs connected
through the ICS host cannot access most of the websites, but some of them can. For instance, they
can access Google, but no Yahoo. The host computer can access all sites. Mail works OK, and I could
ping and trace any site, even the ones which doesn't work in the browsers. And by the way, the
browsers do resolve the IP correctly, no error message is displayed on any co....
