Human cells are producing energy constantly. Nanotechnology is capturing that energy to do useful
things. Last year the University of Georgia had made great strides with it by using zinx oxide
which is nontoxic. Now at the " target="_blank">University of Edinburgh , a nanomachine has been
created that runs by itself. Maybe eventually our own body could power an iPod through
nanotechnology....

In The Beginning
- Technology Advancements (14)
It's amazing how technology has advanced in the last few decades, I was watching some crappy
80's movie, don't remember the name, and a guy wipes one of those big 80's style cell
out. He goes on about how much money he has and how he is one of the few with a cell phone. It was
extremely fun. If you can remember, please write about funny or stupid pieces of technology you

Wifiber Technology - New Wireless That Is Faster Than Fiber!
- (8)
Copied from http://www.engadget.com/2006/02/22/new-wir...ter-than-fiber/ QUOTE New wireless
"WiFiber" tech faster than fiber? Virginia startup GigaBeam set their sights high with their
new wireless system: they're taking on fiber. They dub the tech "WiFiber," and are positioning
the product as a replacement for fiber optic pipes in situations when they're too expensive, too
harmful to the environment, or just too slow to deploy, and they're claiming one gigabit per
second speeds to sweeten the deal. WiFiber operates in the 71-76, 81-86, and 92-95...

Express ur feelings .... Minw r QUOTE Technology is a broad concept that deals with a
species' usage and knowledge of tools and crafts, and how it affects a species' ability to
control and adapt to its environment. In human society, it is a consequence of science and
engineering, although several technological advances predate the two concepts. Technology is a term
with origins in the Greek "technologia",

Beautiful Technology At Work - Inside A Hard Drive, While It's Running
- (4)
Newer drives intentionally lower the armature/actuator speed to decrease noise, which can sometimes
affect drive performance, but to be honest, I kind of miss hearing the click-click-click of the days
of old. Besides, if you can't hear the drive, it also means you can't hear the drive
failing; the noise produced by most hard drives is meaningful and useful.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zp-VBlLuDic&NR=1 I want to see some defragging going on. And
here's another video showing how much abuse a hard drive can take and still not give up trying
to do work ("...
Iphones - Fashionable Hype Or Technology Milestone?
- make your voice heard (14)
With all the buzz and hype surrounding the iPhone, is it going to be something that dies down and
levels off at a niche market, such as with the AppleTV, or is it going to be more of an iPod success
story? Personally, I wouldn't buy one, as they're just too expensive, not to mention the
heavy contract you get saddled with... I believe it's currently $60 per month? I would rather
get a regular cellphone for $100, and spend the extra cash on a laptop or desktop, or whatever else.
Aside from Apple fans, who will buy just about anything Apple makes, I suppose a l...
Microsoft Silverlight Technology
- A new addition to the Windows Live family (3)
Microsoft has released a new development platform (I think it is) called Microsoft SilverLight. It
is supposed to bring rich, interactive, streaming media into a cross-browser, cross-platform
environment. (Personally, I think they are ignoring Opera). The development team is working hard to
get this running on Firefox as well as Internet Explorer. They are adding support for "major,
leading browsers" quickly and efficiently when possible. Macintosh users (for Mac OS X) can also
download this application which is under 2MB in size. You can download SilverLight 1.0 Beta ...
Golf Sidekick
- A bit of technology to help golfers (2)
I had an idea today. What if they made a small ‘golf computer’ like a PDA that can be used to help
with your course management, club selection etc. It can have a touch screen and can be preloaded
with information about the course you are going to play. It could produce all sorts of information
about the course including details about each hole, various slopes for the hole as well as the green
and possibly a map of each hole. The amount of data that could be stored is huge and golfers will
love it because they always like to use stats! Also, it can be combined with infor...

QUOTE IBM teams with Infineon, Macronix on replacement for flash memory chips IBM on Monday
announced that it was working with Infineon Technologies and Macronix International to develop
memory technology that could in the future replace flash memory chips in computers and portable
storage devices. Phase-Change Memory (PCM) technology uses a special material, called phase-change
material, to store memory data. It can change its structure from an amorphous to a crystalline state
by using electrons to pass energy through the material, said Chung Lam, manager of the...

Help With Email To SMS
- Questions about SMS technology (1)
Hi. Do you know of any way to send an e-mail to SMS for free? Btw, my telco does not provide Email
to SMS functionality. Or are there other ways to programmatically send an SMS to someone for free?
Besides that, I have several questions regarding the SMS technology. 1. There are a lot of free
SMS sending websites out there. Do they just rely on the respective telco's Email to SMS
functionality? If not, then how can it be free? 2. How does an international SMS transfer happens?
Example would be someone sending an SMS from US to UK. I know a little about the SMSC a...

Fingerprinting Technology

I've been wondering when we are going to see the little consumer fingerprint pads hooked up to
cash registers all over the country in all types of stores...grocery stores....clothing

can't we just use our fingerprints instead? ... In a time of so much identity theft and fraud,
wouldn't buying goods or services with just your fingerprint, be the better way and more secure
way to go? I remember bringing up this topic with an actor friend of mine last year, and rig...

Infrared Technology
- About Infrared Communication (2)
Infrared radiation is the region of the electromagnetic spectrum between microwaves and visible
light. In infrared communication an LED transmits the infrared signal as bursts of non-visible
light. At the receiving end a photodiode or photoreceptor detects and captures the light pulses,
which are then processed to retrieve the information they contain. Some common applications of
infrared technology are listed below. Augmentative communication devices Car locking systems
Computers a. Mouse b. Keyboards c. Floppy disk drives d. Printers Emergency response syste...
