I didn't tell you this but their are programs that connect though porxies that may work, like i belive one is callled yourfreedom. Try a google search on that, then the only problem is installing it on the school computer i don't know if it needs to make registry changes cause if not you should be able to copy the program to a cd and run it from the cd. But remember you didn't hear this from me.
To get into hotmail...Try using another email service that knows how to manage e-mail through its site. I think gawab.com or bluebottle.com would work. I use both but not for checking hotmail. N for your friends bands site. Try the proxie thing. Or you could maybe change the firewall settings of your school? Mine are really easy to get into...So I never have that problem.
Good luck though
When my website was blocked from my school, I just accessed it via FTP, but you'd have to know the password.

Who said I was a guy?? You are talking about me right?? Does my profile say i'm a guy?? Trust me, i have all the qualifications to be female.
I didn't tell you this information, but I can get in my gmail and other websites by going in with thte secure layer. (https://www.sitenamehere.whatever) It works on my school network, but I won't give any guarantees.

Is there any way that I can still get around the firewall for free?? Depending on what OS your school uses on the puters and which server OS.... In my case, we had Red Hat (and UNIX - just command line on server), then you'd just open a command window - log in on the server, start the browser from there. Gah, I used to know how to do this, I suppose not being in school kinda made me forget some of these things Hotmail is probably just blocked, your friends band site however I don't see a direct reason to block it, unless there is "mature" content there. I vaguely remember something can be changed in the Browsers connection settings. I will try to look it up in my old notes, can't make a promise though..
Neh... every reasonable skilled administrator would block the ip's or url's to the site. So you have to use proxies.
http://tools.rosinstrument.com/proxy/ you'll find some proxies here
I STRONGLY recomend you get rid of this enitre topic now, the minute companys like WebSense see this and they do through searches using google will ban this site on the spot, they wont allow it, they do it all the time, even subtle hints get blocked. You may wish to do this soon!

You guys, there's no point in telling her random web-based proxies. As soon as someone visits a site, the administrator of the firewall can usually view it. Usually at my school, every proxy we used was blocked within 3 days. What I would advise you to do is to subscribe to a proxy newsletter. This gives you new and updated proxies every day. That way, even if your firewall administrator found out about some new ones, you would always have some more that you can use.
The newsletters that I subscribe to are from http://www.proxyannouncer.com/ and http://groups.google.com/group/hostcloak-proxy-network/ . Another alternative thing that you can try doing id using a remote desktop service like LogMeIn (www.logmein.com) to remotely use your home computer from school and then use its web browser to browse the internet. Since you would be using your home internet connection, everythiin would still work. The only downsides to this method are that there is a noticeable lag when you are remotely using a computer and that the admin may block LogMeIn. I hope that this information helps... ~~Unk
at my school we just used loads and loads of proxy sites to get on myspace, hotmail, youtube, games etc. but then we got told off pretty bad for doing it so do it at your own risk!!
if you run out of these proxy sites then just google "proxy sites" and they come about VERY easily! heres a few to help you.. http://www.spysurfing.com/ http://www.proxyforall.com/ http://proxin.cn/ http://youtubeproxy.org/ http://www.httpsurf.com/ http://www.goproxing.com/ http://www.proxysite.org/ and basically on any of them all you have to do is enter in the link of where you want to go and it will take you!
there really isn't a solution to this problem, unless you know that fancy way to access your computer from school.
otherwise, you can just keep using new proxy sites until they're blocked. that's what we do in my school district. all you hear all day long is "hey man, you know a proxy site?" but they're pretty fast when it comes to finding new ones and blocking them. it's pretty sad how long this discussion is. it shows how many kids are on this forum
google how to make a dos file in notepad then google how to make an admin acount using dos, then you would be an admin on the system to bypass whatever you want but becareful because some kid got expelled for doing it and you didn't hear it from me
