Review Author: CaptainHarlock Back in September, Pandemic Studios brought Star Wars Battlefront to consoles. Now they return with a new game, Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction. First previewed back in the summer of 2004, this is a game that has been well worth the wait. War has broken out in North Korea. General Song has seized power and the Allied command has enlisted the help of a freelance military contractor called ExOps to aide in the capture of Song and his henchmen. All, of course, for a price! First let's get this out of the way; this game is absolutely nothing like SOCOM. The two games couldn't be more opposite from each. In SOCOM the focus is on team-based missions, special forces tactics with an emphasis on stealth. In Mercenaries, the emphasis is on brute force. There are some instances where stealth can be useful, but there are no team tactics and no command interface. Now, with that out of the way, here's the rest of the review. Gameplay: In Mercenaries, your job is to take down each card of the "Deck Of 52". There are three playable characters with specialties ranging from stealth, to a jack of all trades, to heavy weapons. Each card has the face of one of Song's cronies. During the game you will receive updates as to their whereabouts. Their locations are marked on your PDA. The game does a great job of mixing up the gameplay so that it doesn't feel repetitive. There are a variety of missions ranging from search and rescue to assassinations. For each mission you complete you'll receive a cash bonus (as well as extra money for any equipment destroyed in the process). There's no shortage of work in Mercenaries. There are four different factions (Allies, South Koreans, Chinese, and the Russian Mafia) spread out over a huge map, and depending on how well you execute the contracts for each, your standing will either improve or decrease with them. Kill too many S. Korean soldiers or citizens, and you'll be public enemy #1! Helping out each faction also improves your standing. There are plenty of bonuses and side missions too. There's plenty to do so, believe me, you won't be bored. There are plenty of real world weapons and lots of vehicles to hijack and use. Need a ride? No problem, just grab a jeep or tank! The vehicles are easy to control as well. The soldiers are pretty good shots and they do take a bit to put down, but at no time do they seem superhuman. There are also plenty of support items as you go along. They range from Surgical Air Strikes to different vehicle drop offs and each will become unlocked as you complete different missions. There are also two unlockable characters (for spoiler purposes I won't post them here). There are no multiplayer modes and no online play included. Controls: There is quite literally no learning curve here. This has to be one of the most player friendly games I've come across in a very long time. At no time was I fumbling for the right buttons. The only thing I didn't like was that when you press L3 to go into a crouch, if you push the stick too far forward you won't STAY in a crouch. This is one of the things I wish they did better. But this game is quite literally a dream to play. Graphics and Sound: The game appears to be running on the Star Wars: Battlefront engine. The environments are rendered quite nicely. Everything has a very "organic" feel to it and at no time does anything look too fake. The city portions are especially good, complete with street lights and pedestrians. Just about everything is destructible, but you can't just plow through a building with a tank. There is a great difference in environments across the two maps. Bombed out villages, farms, military bases--there's a lot to see across the countryside. The sound is very good as well. Weapons have different sounds and are distinct from each other. One of the things I didn't like was that the North Koreans don't have a very broad "vocabulary". They seem to repeat the same phrases over and over. But I suppose this is forgivable. Final Score: 9/10 Even with the absence of multiplayer modes and online play this is a game that's well worth your time and money. Though some may shy away from this title because of the lack of online play, they will be missing a lot of great gameplay. Mercenaries takes a lot of familiar ideas and weaves them into a very original package. There's no denying it, Pandemic has come up with a winner here. I must add that i agree everything written in this review. It is an awsome game and great buy.

Penumbra: Requiem
Review (3) Well, I have played most of Penumbra Overture, Penumbra: Black Plague, and I just downloaded and
completed the most recent and final addition to the series, Penumbra: Requiem. Here's what I
think: Basically, the game continues right where the last one left off, just as Black Plague did
for Overture. Now, anyone that's played the first two know that the game is mostly based on
logic and physics puzzles, sort of like sections of Half Life and Half Life 2, but the difference
here is that you get no weapons. In Overture, most of the puzzles and progression involved....
Mass Effect Review
Take on thus far (6) Well, I picked up Mass Effect a couple of days ago for the PC despite all the complaining people
were doing about the anti-piracy implementations they had attached to it. Circuit City had it $10
cheaper, so I had Best Buy compare prices and got Reward Zone points for it /wink.gif"
style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> Got it home, installation
took awhile since it's about 10 gigs of game, but overall no trouble. Typical serial key, and
it's supposed to have some software built into it to activate it, but once I never even notic....
The Experiment (experience 112)
Demo Review (4) Last night, I was browsing around online, I think it was Amazon.com, and I came across a video
trailer for a game called "The Experiment" published by Dreamcatcher Interactive. Since I knew them
to publish the non-mainstream titles, I figured the game was probably either low budget or
foreign-produced. I was right on the second count, but that's besides the point. The European
name for the game is "Experience 122," and I'm truly hoping that it wasn't altered in any
way like a lot of other games made outside the US such as The Witcher, whose gameplay content w....
The Witcher Review
Why can't normal life be like this? (1) I make a healing potion for a woman, I get laid. I save a woman from bandits, I get laid. I save
some hookers from bandits, I get laid. I got laid 3 times last night in The Witcher, a RPG that was
just released a bit ago. Apparently the US version is censored, so of course I got the UK import
version. Only difference I believe are the "cards" you get when you receive "gratitudes" from women
in this game. Of course, there's no actual "Sex" in game, just a card with a nude chick on it,
marking your "conquest," but I guess the developers wanted to go with the saying "T....
Dreamfall: The Longest Journey
Review *mild spoilers* (2) I picked up Dreamfall being in the mood for a good ol' fashioned Adventure game, and that is
what I got. Dreamfall is the sequel to The Longest Journey, which I heard was indeed very long.
Dreamfall sure took long enough on its own though. I don't recall how many hours I had in it
exactly, but it sure was more than I'm used to putting into games nowadays. I haven't
played The Longest Journey yet, which was probably a dumb move, since after playing Dreamfall, I now
have no motivation of putting forth effort into its predecessor. Dreamfall did for the Long....
Review Of Starfox DS
(0) This is a very unique game that takes advantage of all the features of the Nintendo DS. It heavily
utilizes the touch screen and it has wireless compatibility between another DS or the internet. If
you are familiar with the StarFox series, then this game does not disappoint. The first run through
of the game is extremely easy, but keep in mind this is a StarFox game and has multiple endings.
I've only beaten the game once, so I got the crappy ending. Gameplay: 8/10 - This game is not
limited to just a flying game. There is some strategy involved prior to enteri....

out this review because I was just reading some user reviews for the game on IGN and, while most saw
the game in its true glory, a handful were too incompetent to see past its flaws. Therefor, I shall
let my own review pour out of me in an attempt to possibly sway some people who haven't yet into
trying this game, for it is truly deserving. Now to start out I will explain....
Final Fantasy 7
Final Fantasy 7 review (18) Final Fantasy 7 is the best RPG/Adventure game ever made. The graphic may not me awsome. but the
story is so good, you wont even notice the graphics. This game is hours long and will keep you in
suspense with alot of things. This game is purely a classic. Squarsoft may never make a better final
fantasy then 7. 10 out of 10 second thoughts?....
My Review For Fable
(12) If you want a good RPG/Adventure game to play,Fable is a good game. You are the story and you have
full control on how the ending turns out,you can even alter your appearance by doing good things and
bad. you can also get scars and haricuts. There is so much to do in this game. The story also is
amazing. 10 out of 10 any second thoughts?....
Prince Of Persia: Warrior Within
my review (2) So I recently rented this game. The storyline is great. He has to stop the Sands of Time from being
created in order to prevent his demise. He has to find the Queen and kill her before she creates the
Sands while he has a huge beast looking to kill him for escaping death the first time. The beast is
sort of like the Grim Reaper. Anyways, the story intertwines while you skip forward and backwards in
time fighting enemies and solving puzzles to complete your goal, great story, and a great game. If
you liked the Legacy of Kain series you will love this game. I give it a 10.....
Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas
my review (41) QUOTE Set in the early 90's, you have the ability to rule a state, San Andreas. Be the firm
dictator of Los Santos (Los Angeles), San Fierro (San Francisco), and Las Venturas (Las Vegas). You
can venture through the whole state with virtually no load times, except the ones when entering
buildings. There are many cars to drive, trucks, bikes, bicycles, boats, airplanes, and guess what,
even a four wheeler. You may notice the new "Fast and Furious" blur of the screen when venturing at
high speeds, then fall off a cliff and in water and think, **** I DIED. Then you ....
