  2. John Polkinghorne's, "exploring Reality" - commentary on his views of science and religion (16)
In several forums I have been informed that the ideas I were expressing were very similar to the
popular writings of John Polkinghorne on the intertwining of science and religion. When I learned
that he is a quantum physicist who became an Anglican priest, the similarity that people could see
made a great deal of sense, since I too have spent a great deal of my time in the study of both
physics and religion with a masters in physics at university and another masters from seminary.
Well I finally found a book he wrote and set out to see what he has written in order to s...

  4. Prejudices Due To Religion? - Have you ever ignored a person because they were of a particular relig (4)
HEllo, This is topic about how people treat other people like rubbish because of their choice of
religion. Like for example when the World trade centres were blown so many innocent muslims and
Indians and of other cultures were treated in an inhuman manner just because somebody who was
following the same religion as them had caused mayhem. Even during wars, Many innocent people are
killed and raped just because the leader of the land had started the war. We speak of advancement in
co-relation with other cultures but are we really? If this was true then there would be ...
  5. Religion - (13)
First off I want to say don't turn this into a war, I just like to discuss religion to get an
idea as to why people believe in, or don't believe in stuff. I'm personally an atheist
mainly because I don't like the idea of not being able to prove something does exist. I believe
that if it can't be proven there is no reason to spend you're life blindly chasing after it.
Now if something were to happen and we were to realize some god(s) or another were in fact real
then sure, I would follow their teachings but otherwise, I don't honestly think ...
  6. "seven Great Lies Of Organized Religion" - Response to Perry Marshall's CoffeehouseTheology.com (3)
I cannot remember how it came to my attention but I checked out Perry Marshall's site
CoffeehouseTheology.com and signed up for his email course and I think the first of them line up
pretty well with the anti-religious elements of modern Christianity, but in the end it is obvious
that Perry Marshall abandons his original intent to reveal the lies of organized religion, and
reveals himself instead to be a spokesman for Christianity. So I would like to take up the task he
started and follow through on it. To begin with I have only a few minor criticism of the first t...

  9. Religion Isn't That Bad... - (19)
I am one of many who knows the absurdity in believing in invisible men in the sky, angels,
mysticism, religion etc... A few years ago I wrote a paper on why religion is so bad, and how its
always been a cause of destruction and death all throughout history... But, I've recently begun
to see that people need religion. It brings a sense of meaning and comfort to their lives.
People cannot explain things, so they make up gods, and think of the gods as creators, therefore
answering their previously unexplained questions... People don't want to believe that whe...

  11. Arete, Agon Vs. Krino, Krisis: Judging Others - Greek philosophy and Mathew 7, James 2, Romans 14 (0)
In the New Testament Epsitles, The Gospel of Mathew Chapter 7, The Letter of James Chapter 2, and
The Letter of Paul to the Romans Chapter 14 and other places in the new testament, much is said
about "judging others," specifically about God being the final authority and taking judgement upon
ourselves a usurpation of that authority. This article talks a bit about some of the Greek words
underlying these texts, distinguishing "judgement from authority" and "right perception". This
article was published in part on a closed Yahoo Bible study list. Greek translations here c...
  12. God Without Religion: Questioning Accepted Truths - Book about discovering God on your own. (5)
With grave concern for a world being torn into bits by religious divisiveness, I’d like to tell
members of this forum about a new book that is a powerful guide to discovering God on one’s own.
Written as a bridge between traditional organized religion and mystical spirituality, God Without
Religion invites readers to examine their beliefs and explore the nature of the divine. Author
Sankara Saranam (a former monk of the swami order and the son of self-exiled Iraqi Jews) welcomes
the reader's willingness to question, and offers seventeen universal techniques for devel...
