Well, today as I turned on my PHP Designer 2005 editor, it said that an update is available and I thought to check it out and found out that PHP Designer 2006 final beta is out, so I downloaded it and installed. It seems to have a different interface and a bit faster and some more features, I don't really think that it is a superb editor, but I did not find anything better on windows and got used to it. I am glad to hear about iti, I have been using PHP Designer 2005 for about four months, mostly for new code or testing some PHP ideas out or running sample coe. Most of the time I use HTML Kit because I can update files on my server with its built in FTP. I think there is supposed to be that capability but I think you have to download extra stuff to make that function work, so I will definately go and look at it. Most likely will download it.

Quatrux, one of the times I heard you mention PHP Designer, I went and downloaded it and I got the 2006 version straight away. Looks very good. Haven't done much coding on it as of yet, but what I have done, I got a little frustrated with. The one thing I couldn't figure out was how to get it to show in my browser window. But a very solid program otherwise.

This is the first time a late poster has helped me. I didn't notice this topic before. Probably because I was on vacation during that time. But the "new" version looks great! The startup time was faster by a little bit. And the new icons make the software look much more professional. My favorite interface theme is SentimoX because it's not too flashy with the blue bars, and it has the gradient when the cursor is above a menu item.

Thank you for that link. I have used PHP Designer 2005 and did enjoy using it. Since I got my new computer I have been using Notepad++ which just has syntax highlighting so this will make a nice change from the simplicity of N++.

Well, you can find a lot of good tutorials in the net, but i recomend you to start with the official php documentation, download here. BTW, i'm haven't done much coding on it yet only a few test scripts and I got a little frustrated with the debuger, when i run a script the debugger shows the source code instead of the result, and the same thing happens every time i run a script in an external window, maybe it is because a misconfigured value. Does anybody have the same problem? Regards,

Also, it looks fairly advanced. Can you just copy and paste a script into it, for instance, a news box, and it will work or do you have to actually edit the document?
What are you talking about? It is a PHP IDE, an Editor mainly for creating, reading, editing .php files with a lot of features. What is the difference what kind of sites were created with this program? You can create a one page html site with it, but you need some kind of html knowledge to do that - it is an editor and it won't create anything for you if you're just going to click the mouse, it has some things you can do with a mouse click, but just for people with some knowledge to make it faster for them to write the code.

I took a quick look at the PHP Designer 2007 website and am not at all pleased. I am going to stick with the 2006 version I think. In 2007, there are many disadvantages unless you want to pay. Almost none of the tools are available. At least in 2006 there was no split. I guess PHP Designer got popular enough were the owner saw a way to make a profit, but that doesn't mean I have to like it. I know I wont be going to upgrade to 2007 unless I hear from others that tell me there are some real advantages to it. Because from the looks of it, I don't see much. If anyone does get it, I hope to hear their comments about it. I'm curious to hear how they could make improvements on the free versions.

Well, I just noticed that PHP Designer 2007, the version 5 has been released, don't know for how long it is released, but you can get it on the phpdesigner website, I myself just downloaded it, but didn't use it yet, because it is time for me to get ready and go to the university, so I just wanted to put a notice on this. So anyone if is using PHP Designer, can write some comments? Reviews? Dar, I just noticed that it isn't free anymore It requires you to register or else you can use the Personal package which does not have special features.. I remember I read about PHP Designer, that he liked it to be free, now maybe he saw a lot of perspectives to get some money from it :/ Oh Well.. I rather use the old free version PHP Designer 2006..
