I would love to make some sort of Max Payne-like game, the question is: with which software could I create such a game and is it possible for an individual or individuals to make such a game without a lot of €'s ?

I think its called renderware. That's what gta 3 was made with. I would just google it and see what you get. I'm not sure on the price. Plus you'll prob need a full developer team. Good luck

It's rather easy to create your own games for free, even in 3D. I suggested you download Game Maker and the documentation:

www.gamemaker.nl (It's maybe .nl but it's fully English.)

If you wanna make a 3D game, you will have to learn GML (Game Maker Language, the scripting-language of GM). That take some time but not very much, and when you've learned it you can make great games, ALSO 3D.

Well, you could get Jamagic, but it cost 115 Euro. But, it is very easy to use and it could easily make a game like Max Paine. I don't know of any cheaper 3D game makers, however.

Oh and by the way. Jamagic is made by Clickteam, which can be found at www.clickteam.com
