...why would you need to know about Tic Tac Toe on PowerPoint if you were trying to make one using HTML (tricky, for one thing)? That just seems a little odd to me. The only half decent PowerPoint games out there (in my mind) are the Choose Your Own Adventure style ones, but even they are outclassed by a lot of "dedicated" programs designed to run CYOA style games (and do it very well, I might add).

Umm...I am not exactly sure what you are referring to here... Are you saying you want to make a game like you would in powerpoint but with html? In that case, the stuff you can do with html is so much more powerful than powerpoint, so it wouldn't be too hard....just have links that do certain things.... But as for a tic-tac-toe game....it would probably be best to use php for a back end there....simply because then you don't have to have an html page for every possible possibility...

I think that powerpoint progames are, basically, "basic" programs. So, i guess that you should learn how to use microsoft basic programming, and then include your program as a powerpoint macro. Regards Yordan

I dunno about tic tac toe and HTML in powerpoint, but one thing I know you can make with it is a Jeopardy kind of game. I've done it a few times and it's pretty cool if you don't have a program actually made for making quiz type games.

I have personally seen the Jeorpardy powerpoint in action. It's very, very cool! Some of my classmates used it when doing a presentation and it was a lot of fun. As for tic tac toe, I have never seen that one before, but I'm pretty sure that it'll be fun. I don't know why you would want to play tic tac toe on powerpoint when you can just play with a pencil and paper =) but that's just me. I'm still unsure about how to create powerpoint games. If someone could come up with a cool (free) tutorial for that, then that would be really awesome! Best, Trinifawk

I haven't heard of having a tic-tac-toe game on powerpoint, but I've made a jeopardy style game where the people choose questions, and they are worth different amounts of money, and I can pick either if they got the question right, or wrong, and it will total the scores and show them at the top. It didn't take me very long, and it was pretty simple. I could have made it HTML just as easier, but in powerpoint, I can add all the cheesy slide effects.

OK I wouldn't recommend making it on PowerPoint, I do recommend using server side scripting (PHP or ASP) to do it, although that is way beyond my knowledge. You can also try actual programming, like C or Basic or even Flash-based development, that may be a bit easier if you have some prior knowledge.

You can also try actual programming, like C or Basic or even Flash-based development, that may be a bit easier if you have some prior knowledge. With a slight bemol though. Servers like asta give you a lot of freedom using php and mysql. It's less easy to have a ssh access, and I'm pretty sure you will not be allowed to compile and run your own C programs. So, server-side php programming for public accessed games on public servers. C-programming for private games on your own PC, or ship your program to be installed on other player's PC.

QUOTE(Lydubs @ Jul 29 2008, 08:08 PM) I've made a number of Jeopardy games for class with powerpoint and everyone always absolutely loves them. Unless there's some kind of coding I don't know about for Powerpoint, I can't imagine making tic tac toe or anything where Powerpoint would have to remember things like where Player One put their X and where Player Two put two Os. With Powerpoint, I can't imagine making anything more complicated than a Jeopardy game, a Choose Your Own Adventure game, a comic strip/slide story, an animation (I'll explain how to do these), or a drawing game (I'll explain this too, although it is much less complicated). With Powerpoint, I can't imagine making anything more complicated than a Jeopardy game, a Choose Your Own Adventure game, a comic strip/slide story, an animation (I'll explain how to do these), or a drawing game (I'll explain this too, although it is much less complicated). QUOTE Create an Animation With Powerpoint - Get your idea for the animation.
- Estimate how long this story will take you and how many slides it will be and see if you still feel like doing it.
- If you still want to try, create the layout for the first scene. Draw whatever background is necessary for your story.
- Create/Draw the character(s).
- For the second slide, you don't have to redraw the whole thing. Just duplicate the slide and move whatever needs to be moved for the desired animation!
- Continue duplicating and repeating these steps for however many scenes you have.
- Watch your animation often to make sure it is exactly the way you want it and you didn't mess up somewhere. Watch it by holding down the space bar or the right arrow key. You will see each frame in succession. (If you have a slow computer, it may look choppy. Choppy animations can be fixed later though. If your computer is very fast, you might want to add extra frames so you can read any text you might have your characters saying and it won't look like everything is rushed.)
- When it is done, call your family into the room to marvel at your work!
- If you just want to leave it at that, fine. If you want it on Youtube, however, you can download "Cam Studio". Cam Studio records your computer screen and it can ever record sound! If you have a webcam, the sound recording feature can be very useful!
- Tell Cam Studio to start recording then click "View Slideshow". Then play your slideshow animation by holding the spacebar until it is done, then stop recording. If you want your characters to have voices, you can set Cam Studio to record the sound from your webcam. When the animation is over, stop recording and wait for Cam Studio to process it. Ones with sound will take a little longer.
- Watch and edit it. You can edit out the part where you are clicking "View Slideshow" and the black screen when it is over. Also if your animation was super fast, you can slow it down. You don't need a complex multi-million dollar movie editor for this. You can use Windows Movie Maker, which is what I did.
- Then you can put it on Youtube for all to see! If yours is especially long, you can upload it to Google, which is what I did with one of my extremely long ones. Here it is by the way, if you want an example:
http://video.google.com/googleplayer.swf?d...=en&fs=true It is an animation about British Slang that I did for my People to People project. Enjoy!
I'll be putting a copy of this in the tutorials forum. Create a Drawing Game With Powerpoint - This is all too simple. All you really need is one slide and a pretty background for people to draw on, but that part is optional.
- After you have ONE SLIDE just click "View Slideshow" and go to the bottom left corner and select a drawing utensil.
- DRAW YOUR HEART OUT!

QUOTE(Moo64c @ May 30 2008, 11:12 AM) I'm sorry, why would anyone want to play something in powerpoint? Flash exists at least a decade now. Seriously. Can someone answer this for me? The point may simply to be to push the boundaries on the the software and its use of VBA. You can learn a lot from pushing something as far it may go. Interestingly this goes for people as well i.e. military basic training.
