Photoshop Tutorial: Sunblind's Custom Style #3 - The DM.Net Style - The DM.Net Style

SunBlind
This tutorial will show you how to make the style I created for the header of my website, DM.Net (DreamMare)

user posted image

Since there is a limit on the number of images I can post, I have only included images of the style's settings. For pictures of how the applied settings should look on your text, click on the settings image. This style can be used on any color background, but for the tutorial I will be working on a white background since it is easiest to see. Now with that said, create a new image with a size to fit your text. In my case, I'm using
a 100px font (Bastarda) so I started with a 450x150 image.

1. Type your desired text in any color, try to center it. Color doesn't matter because a Color Overlay will be applied.
user posted image

2. Now it's time for the effects - We'll start with the Drop Shadow. Click on the "f" icon on your Layers palette and go to Drop Shadow.
user posted image

3. Use these settings
user posted image

4. Next, we'll apply the Color Overlay
user posted image

5. Then Bevel and Emboss
user posted image

6. Now the Inner Shadow

7. Apply the Stroke:

8. Finally, we'll add an Outer Glow

And there you have my website's style smile.gif If you are having trouble understanding the settings, or would rather just get the style prepackaged, you may download it here: Get the DM.Net Style

nice tutorial!
about that pictures upload problem...you can always upload it to imageshack.us or some similar free photo upload site, and link them here..

Yaa - as fd said, if you upload the whole bunch at imageshack (make all of them part of a photoblog - so it's easier to maintain) - and then use their forum thumbnail code for each to embed the images here.

Thanks for the advice guys smile.gif Though you may already know that I'm working on my tutorials site, so it's just as easy for me to host them myself... I think, anyways.

I'm almost done the site! I got sick of messing with CMS's so I just set up phpBB2. I actually put in a mod that inserts an ImageShack hosting box right below the post entry form so users can upload their images and have them hosted (plus get the necessary code) instantly. The only problem is, I also installed a Sudoku mod so when I'm setting up the forum and waiting for stuff to upload, I get side tracked :/

I'm using a black background (400x150) and the 120px font Bastarda 1. Type your text in any
color. The bigger the font, the better the effect looks. 2. Start with a Gradient Overlay - Blend

This style actually started off as "Bluminum," or in normal people terms, blue aluminum. I was
messing around with some variations and found one that resembled some kind of cartoonish gold, so I
gave it a name and saved it. Enjoy! Create a new image with a size to fit your text. In my
case, I'm using a 72px font (I think) called Kristen ITC . 1. Type your desired text in any
color and try to center it. Color doesn't matter because a Gradient Overlay will be applied.

  22. Photoshop Tutorial: Creating Actions For Batch Processing - Let Photoshop do all the work. (2)
For those of you who don't already know, Photoshop has these nifty little features called
Actions. Now, these actions can be used for many things, including the creation of beautiful and eye
catching effects, maximizing your productivity, or simply to carry out the tedious and mundane tasks
that your lazy ass just doesn't feel like doing. I recently had the pleasure of turning
.diplomat.'s beautiful " Daze " theme for SMF into something of my own, and being the genius
that I am, I used these wonderful actions and a little thing called Batch Processing. I'...
  23. Photoshop Tutorial: Sunblind's Custom Style #7 - Rubber - Rubber (1)
I made this style a long, long time ago for my old hosting site, XS-Host.net and I totally forgot
about it until the other day. I always thought it looked pretty cool, so I decided to share it with
    you /smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /> It kinda looks like
something you'd find in the tread of a sneaker, or in a car's floormat, doesn't it?

  24. Photoshop Tutorial: Sunblind's Custom Style #6 - Satin Pillow - Satin Pillow (0)
I was messing around with my styles the other day and came up with this. I think it kinda has the
same look as those stupid little pillows you see at Wal-Mart with "Princess" or "Cute" written on
them. But since "Stupid Little 'Princess' Pillow" is too long of a title for a Photoshop
style, I call it Satin Pillow. It kinda looks more like silk, but it's my style and I'll
call it what I want. For pictures of how the applied settings should look on your text, click on
the settings' image. This style can be used on any color background, but for the t...
  25. Photoshop Tutorial: Sunblind's Custom Style #5 - Incredible Orange - Inedible Orange (0)
Today I will be showing you how to make the style "Inedible Orange" that I created for my tutorials
site's header. I have included two variations of the style in the .asl file, one for dark
backgrounds (v.1) and one for light backgrounds (v.2). I don't have the header finished yet, so
here's another example: For pictures of how the applied settings should look on your text,
click on the settings image. This style can be used on any color background, but for the tutorial I
will be working on a black background since it is easiest to see. Now with that said...
  26. Photoshop Tutorial: Sunblind's Custom Style #4 - The Bi-Polar Attraction Set - The Bi-Polar Attraction Set (4)
Another one of my text styles, "Bi-Polar Attraction" (I suck at naming things :/) Actually, I will
be showing you 3 variants on the style: Dark, Light, and Electric. All 3 variants are included in
the style download at the bottom of the tutorial. I think the effect really looks better with a
larger size font, but that's for you to decide. Here is an example of the 3 style variants on
both black and white backgrounds: Since there is a limit on the number of images I can post, I
have only posted images of the style's settings. For pictures of how the applied se...
  27. Photoshop Tutorial: Sunblind's Custom Style #2 - Oh-so-blue - (0)
I've been waiting patiently for my hosting to go through to post this tutorial... so I hope you
like it! I will be showing you how to make another one of my favorite styles. I call it "OhSoBlue"
(real creative, I know) Here is an example of the style on a half white/half black background:
Since there is a limit on the number of images you can post, I have only posted images of the
style's settings. For pictures of how the applied settings should look on your text, click on
