How-to: Doing a wave effect on your texts.

Art end:



First Step: Make a new image with 400x400 size, transparent background and name "background".

Second Step: Go to "Edit -> Fill" then click on the box front text "Use:" and choice Color... at the new window choice the color black(#000000).
Contents
Use: Color...
Blending
Mode: Normal
Opacity: 100%
Preserve Transparency: Uncheck

Trird Step: Write a text with a large font... I choose the font "Impact" and the size "80px"... Don't forget to use White Color...

Fourth Step: On this layer go to "Layer -> Raterize -> Type". Then rename this layer to "text".. clone this layer and give the name "text 2" to this... Then: on layer "text 2" mark the "eye" on layers side...

Fiveth Step: On layer "text" go to "Layer -> Merge Visible"... Then go to "Edit -> Transform ->90CW".. Will belike that:

Sixth Step: Now go to "Filter -> Stylize -> Wind" to make a wind effect... First choice this option:
Method: Wind
Direction: From the Right

Click on "OK", then press "CTRL + F" to repeat the effect... Now back to "Filter -> Stylize -> Wind" and choice this options:
Method: Wind
Direction: From the Left

Click on "OK", then press "CTRL + F" to repeat the effect... Will be like that:

Seventh Step: Now go to "Edit -> Transform ->90CCW" to return the image to the initial position... Go to "Filter -> Stylize -> Wind" and choice this options:
Method: Wind
Direction: From the Right

Click on "OK"
**Do not press "CTRL + F"**
Then Back to "Filter -> Stylize -> Wind", and now choice this options:
Method: Wind
Direction: From the Left

Click on "OK"
**Again do not press "CTRL + F"**
Will be like that:

Eighth Step: Go to "Filter -> Distort -> Ripple" and choice those:
Amount: 100%
Size: Medium

Click on "OK".

Nineth Step: Go to "Image -> Adjustments -> Hue/Saturation"(CTRL + U).. Mark "COLORIZE" and choise this options:
Hue: 240
Saturation: 40
Lightness: 0
You can change this to the way you think is better. Then click on "OK".

Tenth Step: Back to layer "text 2", go to "Selection -> Load Selection" and click on "OK". Go to "Select -> Modify -> Contract" and choice Contract by 2 pixels.. Now back to layer "text" and go to "Edit -> Fill" and choice this options:
Contents
Use: Black
Blending
Mode: Normal
Opacity: 100%
Preserve Transparency: Uncheck
Click on "OK"... Ready! Your Wave Effect is ready.. If you do all right your image will be like that:

the bluey purple makes it look more electric than wavey.

its a nice style, could go well as a site logo!

    I would like to have a simple Arrow (that I draw with the custom shape tool) with some nice little
    effects to pretty it up for my games menu. However, I have a problem, I currently cannot support
    PNG or GIF, which presents a problem with transparency. I can easily set a singular transparent
    colour for drawing irregular shapes in my game without a hitch. But, try having a transparent layer
    (invisible), make a new layer, use the custom shape tool on it to draw anything that leaves
    background space (some decent space), add some effects like Bevel and Outer Glow. Go to E....
