| | ASTAHOST is the best one so far. Obviously since i'm hosted here. I've been in geocities, 100webspace, stormpages, this is by far the greatest. i only have the first hosting package but already i'm happy with it. I'm hoping to request the second one soon so i can get the 150mb but with just this hosting package it's enough for my demolay website. compared to the others, this has NO ADS! |

I was using Aboho.com prior to this when i didnt have any domain. Only I know how I managed with hardly 5 mb of space... and 500 mb bandwidth. Then when I got a domain name, i mailed them to upgrade my account to a domain account, i realized that they had some new rule that every member should have a authentic email id. something from your school or ISP etc. Well a good method of tracking those who would create multiple account, but what they didn't think of is notifying existing members. I had my gmail account and i never upgraded my records, so I just got thrown of the server without prior or post notice. Whereas one of my miscreant friends who was running two-three parallel hosting account (absolutely illegal on aboho), simply created 3 more email ids of professional domain which he claimed was his company's, with redirection to his gmail id and continued to use aboho at its best. The simple honest people get kicked always After that I moved to Aushost.co.uk which allows free hosting if you have a domain name. It was quite stable and good, but had a pretty inferior control panel than cPanel. Plus cudnt make any subdomain, add on domains, etc etc... it was a lot buggy with only 50mb space and 500mb b/w. Not even 50% of the features of astahost, but yes did have basic survivability meassures Astahost is like an angel compared to all of those! 150mb space and 5GB b/w!!! (yea i was patient enough to get 30 points). It's superb to have such a service! Fast, reliable, and above all with the fun of participating on a community! It's a pure win-win deal.

I like the fact that in order to maintain a website that every so often you must at least contribute something, I do have another host and with the exception of when I first started have never had my account suspended. I have not contributed lately (until lately) because I am tiring of some thing that I used to do elsewhere so expect to see more of my posts here especially PHP an MySQL related. The only thing that I guess that really bothers me is when a newbie joins they make a lot of posts asking what I think about some common or even some not so common software, sometimes even want to run a poll. I know that if you want to have a 'free hosted site' you want it RIGHT now. But in my opinion if you are just shooting the breeze then what good is it. To go to some of these posts and find nothing of any value that benefits no one then sometimes I feel disappointed. I try to make a post that actually makes some sense or could possibly be of benefit to someone else. I am digressing here so I will get to the POINT and I am quite satisfied with Astahost and as long as I can peck out a few letters that come out into a sentence, phrase or thought that is helpful then I will keep doing it right here.

This is possible the best host I have ever had. After going through probably 10 different type of hosts in the past 7 years. I find this place the best and as FREE as it can get. It has so many features that will make your jaw drop, because when I got into the control panel for the first time I was like WHAT THE?!? I didnt even know what to do with all these features available to us. The reason its the best? NO ADS PERIOD. And all you need to do to keep your host? Post, and stay active in the forums. It maybe hard at first to join, but it is well worth it. With all that they have to offer, once your finally hosted you will understand fully why this will be the best host you can possibly find for the price of 0.00.

Just like everyone else, I have to say Astahost is the best free webhost I have ever been hosted at. It's not just free webhosting, it's free paid hosting in exchange for quality posts at the forums. It's probably the best deal around on the net. There's no ads, forced or otherwise, and the community is very friendly. Not only that, but the Cpanel is very easy to use and has many features I have not seen before on other free hosting sites, not to mention Astahost doesn't plauge you with useless newsletters and ads even after you unsubscribe from them like Bravehost does. There's also not many limitation besides content, transfer space, and bandwidth. Again, Astahost is probably the best around in free and quality webhosting. Thank you, Astahost!

I've really enjoyed Astahost so far. It definitely provides far better hosting services than I would ever expect of a free host. I don't mind using up some of my time to post at forums (I would probably do that anyway even if I didn't host here ) I started off with Freewebs.com -- a horrible host that had limits on the number of files uploaded and turned ads on randomly. Then I moved on to biz.ly, 50webs.com, and awardspace.com. biz.ly lacked space, 50webs lacked PHP and awardspace didn't allow the mail() function in PHP; nor did they allow the email service they promised in their ad. Then I found Astahost, and I'm very impressed with the PHP support, email service, and the amount of space I have. It's quite hard to find a good PHP supporting host that also has no ads. Most of them come with some catch...but apparently Astahost has none! (I don't really find posting in the forums a catch, as that was already explained even before I joined the AstaHost forums) I also really like the support here. Forums and all. XD

I'm not with astahost at the moment but they have everything I need for an oscommerce site I was with awardspace (free account) - don't have e-mail forwarding, password protection and ssl, only one mysql databse I then signed upto websitesnetwork (free account) - don't have ssl I think this is the only free host to offer SSL which I need for my oscommerce site Hopefully I will join up soon once I have got 30 credits.

I'm going to miss you all (8) Well, my time has come... Tomorrow I'm leaving Astahost, I'm not going to cancel my hosting
just yet, I still need to backup my site. Today I bought hosting, I just can't seem to find
anything to write about here anymore. I'd just like to say thanks so much for the great
hosting, I'm still going to recommend you for free hosting. I'd like to thank everyone for
their help and their support and giving me something to do! Also the admins, you're so helpful,
remember that problem I had last year? Not sure if it was my fault but OpaQue fixed it! ....
Joomla In Astahost
(7) Hi i'm new at this web host and before i create my account i have some questions about this web
site and joomla. My last web host was x10hosting.com. Its very good and has everything that is
needed but when i use the search engine of joomla it gives me an error and i cant build the site
without the search engine. The error that gives me is: Fatal error: SUHOSIN - Use of eval is

Why Its So Hard To Get Hosting At Astahost
Feedback and some suggestions (24) I think the reason why its so hard to get hosting here at Astahost is because of its technical
nature. While many of us who haven't got hosting yet (me included) know a fair bit about
Computers and other technical aspects there isn't much need to share it here, since the
auidience is made up mainly of people with the same amount of knowledge or more. Most of the
tutorials to be written have been written I think. Many helpful tips that would benefit people, we
all already know. To make "quality" posts you must not just be technically minded but be the best of

Astahost Can Have A Wiki?
As the first stickied thread of every forum (6) I was just wondering if this was feasible after what Mark420 or someone mentioned in one of the
threads around here. Each of the forum section would have a Wiki, which would have eventually
contain a good summing up of all that happens in the forums. Once members participate in a thread,
solve a problem, discuss, or come up with something, we could put that info in the Wiki of that
section almost summing up and polishing all the information the thread had gained. That way, some
one wanting to search the knowledge base would really find it easy to get what they need. ....
Ideas To Improve Astahost
My thoughts as an experienced webmaster (8) One thing I see wrong already is the title, "Free Web Hosting" on the main page. This just screams
unprofessional and tells people that Astahost shouldn't be taken seriously. I think you should
change the title to, "Astahost | Quality Web Hosting for Free" or something of that sort. This
greatly improves the standards and shows people how great the hosting here is, while the current,
"Free Web Hosting" sounds like typical web hosting you can find at any other crappy free web host.
Because who wants "Free Web Hosting" when they can have "Quality Web Hosting for Free?"....
My Thoughts On Astahost
various comments as an Astahost User (4) I have been on Astahost for quite a while and decided to make an honest review on my thoughts about
this host. Astahost is a really nice web host. I found that the product itself is comparable to
paid hosting such as http://www.rydia.net . But the neatest aspect of Astahost, in my opinion, is
the kindness and flexibility of the staff members. Honestly, if you go to support in ANY other free
web hoster, they just say "too f&$$ing bad, CASE CLOSED!" But the staff members here work hard for
you . And as though the bandwidth isn't enough in Astahost (which it is, by t....
Holy Crap! I Didn't Know This About Astahost!
:: -30 credits = off with your site :: (13) Holy crap, I'm going to complain about Astahost. From a poster here: QUOTE Once your
hosting credit reach a negative number, your site will be taken down. Once it reaches -30, your
account will be terminated and all files will be deleted. So as long as you don't get down to
-30, all your files will still be intact. OH CRAP!!! I am NOT secure with Astahost. What if I
croak? Or get kidnapped? Run over by a car? Struck with lightning?!!! I want my site to be here
after I die! Lets see, I'm 14, most people live to 100 so: 100 - 14 = 86 I can only maint....
Praise For Astahost
Free webhosting was never this good (2) Just one week ago, my account with Astahost was suspended out of the blue. I wasn't out of
hosting credits, so it's not possible that I'm suspended due to a lack of hosting credits. I
waited for days for my account to come back, I PMed the admins like Nilsc who replied that my
account was suspended due to "higher cpu usage". I thought, this was it, that's what you get for
free web-hosting. I thought my account is terminated. Then I emailed OpaQue, and he kindly took
time to restore my account despite him being busy with setting up a new server over at Co....
Astahost Is Excellant!
I'm sad to say I'm leaving though... (3) I've really enjoyed my stay here both at Trap17 and Astahost, and I love the hosting, the
accounts are great! I really got alot out of mine, and I will miss you all (well not really,
I'll be checking in every now and then), but I'm going to leave to go to Xisto Group's
paid hosting service, I'm looking at all of the plans, and developing some original scripts for
my site, then I expect to create my hosting account there late August- early September. But you will
still be able to find me frequently on IPB Gaming , the graphics section on Trap17, and ....
Does Astahost Provide . . .
question I couldn't find on the faq (4) does astahost provide an online html/php/whatever editor. I just want to know if i can edit my

searched through the forums, and i even checked the package details. i don't believe i saw it

Astahost : Your Service Is Not Free
astahost : shouldn't call it free (12) astahost : you should not call your service free as it isn't - as you demand 50 posts then in
fact you are trading your service for people's content. I'm not giving you lots of content
to get a bit of space. I only use free services, not paid ones that stupidly lie and pretend to be
free. On yer bikes, you wrong'uns, you ignorant time wasters..................................

family. You guys want to make a quality forum with quality members posting quality posts. I think
you are on the right way to do it. Keep up the awesome work /biggrin.gif' border='0'

The Name Game
What's the basis for the name Astahost? (19) There's usually a story behind every name. Sometimes the message or the story is obvious
othertimes it isn't. What is the story behind the naming of this domain Astahost? Mine?
Hashbang is a shortened version of #!/bin/bash (hashbangslashbinslashbash). I choose this some time
ago and have used it in other online forums. It reflects my passion for *nix systems and using the
command line. I don't always use the bash shell but I find it's the most user friendly. And
what is the story behind your own login name here? cheers hashbang ....
