There's one out there which I'll strongly recommend. That's NVU - and it cuts out all the monkey crap and renders exact code  Moreover, it's cross platform i.e. operates with equal vigour on Windows, Linux and Mac OS.

I swear by Dreamweaver and GoLive. I do most of my coding in Dreamweaver 8 and use GoLive CS2 if i've working with a very big Style Sheet. There is no Opensource or freeware editors for coding with features as that of Dreamweaver.

True - nothing can beat Dreamweaver, but NVU or Konqueror (which is the unofficial bug-fixed release of NVU) is possibly the closest you can get. Dreamweaver costs a pretty penny - so for those who don't really want to burn a big hole in their pocket... NVU is the way to go Incidentally, not everyone here's living in India or Thailand (me) where all these softwares are available for as low as $2, on the roadside that is

yep here in India we get all Softwares for the lowest prices you'd ever get, but they are pirated. I've planned to join the anti-piracy leauge. SO I've stopped getting pirated softwares for the past 3 months and also stopped visiting warez websites. I'll use only opensource or paid softwares. I'll be conveting to orginal dreamweaver by purchasing the Dreamweaver CS3 when it will be released [Planning to purchase but nor sure  ].

I quit using pirated software more than a year ago and I must say there are a lot of free alternatives available and they can do almost the same as the paid versions (wich sometimes contain a lot of stuff you don't need or use). I'll share my favourite html editor, notepad++ . It's more than enough to do what I want to do. I can write the code the way I want it (and writing it correct, something dreamweaver doesn't always do).

I'm a pure HTML kind of guy.  But then again, I have never really had to do any sort of heavy-duty coding. Most of the things I design have a simple, functional layout because the guests will be a select group that don't really care about the visual style except for not looking bad.

PHP Designer Vs. HTML Kit
Looking for a good Source Code Editor (7) I got really tired of using notepad to write codes for a drupal theme. It involves both XHTML
and PHP codes. I am looking for a good freeware that will help me with these two languages
combined, and maybe even MySQL in the future. I found both HTML Kit and PHP Designer. I’ve seen
some really good reviews on both of these two products. But I am really unfamiliar with these and
wondered which one would suite me better. HTML has a lot of plug-ins, do I have to download
something to edit XHTML and PHP codes? It seems that PHP Designer requires downloading XAMPP ....

Code Editor debugger (0) I came across a post that concerned PHP Designer 2005 and decided to give it a try (I like free
stuff) I used to use Arachnophilia for html then I used Code Edit then I found HTML Kit a truly
great free program (but no debugging) then I tried PHP Designer 2005. This program not only will
speed up the debug but it looks for you php.ini and php.exe and will run the file right from your
browser or the internal one. I write and edit alot of php files and this program has sped up my
output by at least 400%, I can just hit the little debugger and know instantly if the change ....

(6) hello all i'm looking for a free pdf editor. it's for a company, so don't start about
downloading warez please. acrobat's creator is not an option. and don't mention the
pdf-printers, you know, the virtual printers that print your docs to a pdf file. what i need is an
editor that can open pdf files, edit them and then save & close the file again. the more different
