Know what OS you are running woulod go a long way in helping to answer this question. QUOTE Are there any commonly fragmented files that I can move (say to a usb drive), or should I start worrying about the bios battery or hard disk or any other parts of this 11-ish year old computer failing? Once more the OS is unknown. In any version of windows there is the option to defrag a disk.

Messed Up My Boot.ini File With Vista...
How can i fix it? (13) I wanted to install Vista without getting rid of my XP installation, so I left Xp on my C drive, and
installed Vista on another physical disk. I started running into problems with the dual booting when
i would switch from one OS to the next, and after a while Xp would start hanging on boot, and only
after several cold reboots would it load properly. So i was planning on uninstalling Vista, but the
hard drive i had it on got formatted by a friend of mine who thought he was doing me a favor. Now

Windows 98 Blue Screen Of Death
(4) Are you getting the infamous, dreaded, Blue Screen of Death on your Windows 98 machine? This usually
means that your registry is corrupted, and luckily for you, that can be fixed rather easily. The
registry is a vital part of a Windows machine, it is where hardware settings, software settings,
user preferences and more are all stored. The Windows registry is far from perfect, however, and has
some serious problems. Programs not installing or uninstalling correctly, messy programs, spyware
and more all take its toll on the registry, and it becomes a mess, and so does you....

Red Screen Of Death!
Vista to abandon BSOD and go with RSOD (27) I heard a rumor that Windows vista is going to abandon the long-feared Blue Screen of Death (BSOD)
and make it red instead, kind of a Red Screen of Death (RSOD). Article . The BSOD will still be
used, but for lesser errors, only the RSOD will have the intensely bad-news errors. Is this a good
idea or no? I personally think it is stupid and only points out the errors in Windows. People will
be talking about the change for a while. Some less computer-literate users might wonder what the
heck happened to their screen. They may think that their computer is posessed, ....
Unique Screen Resolution For Each User?

I am not entirely sure what happened, but my searches have lead me to believe that my little sister

don't remember how I set it up when I had trouble last time). I am wondering if anyone knows of
a simple single floppy boot disk that I could use to edit text files on the drive s....

Cannot delete a corrupt file on Windows XP... (31) I was upgrading some software and came across a corrupt file that halted the installation process. I
went to see what was wrong with the file, and failed to manually delete it. I tried moving

Had this happen to me in the past also and I think I kept reinstalling over and over again until it

couldn't copy e:\i386\canvas.wm_. I double checked the CD and the file is right there. Retried
over 20 times and still won't let me copy it. I hit cancel and let it finish the install. I
notice things are not the same now...like msconfig is missing. So I probably will r....
