I Like FireFox Alot Better Because You Can Customize tons of stuff in the bar, below the back and forward arrows. I Don't Like Internet Explore Though Because You Go On Some Sites And They Give You Viruses, And For Opera, I've Never Used It Before. Although I Did Use It On My Wii. But It Doesn't Have The Same Features As In The PC Version.
I personally use Firefox but have the 3 bigs, FF2 IE7 and OP9, at my disposal for testing. As a hobbyist developer I couldn't be happier with how closely these modern browsers actually are to each other. With css designing being all the rage, as it should be, the main three contenders are quite accurate when rendering pages but there are some limits and disagreements between them. One of the latest things I've been toying with are adjacent selectors (written in css as... #name + div { value } ) allows you to assign properties to underlying elements. IE7 definitely honors these but has a minor hiccup determining what is actually an "adjacent" element. The problem I've had arises when there is a nested div inside #name. I'm not 100% sure if IE7 simply looks for the next instance of a <div> or not, but thats the results I seem to be getting. IE7 will also not generate content with ":before" and ":after" pseudo classes, they are simply ignored. The ":hover" pseudo class is probably the coolest thing to come across for web design because it kills a LOT of need for javascript ( "onmouseover" anyone? ). Opera9 is quite the picky browser though hehehe... I have a case where hovering the child of an element does not hold the effect of hovering the element itself. Wether or not this is the exact case, opera definitely disagrees with FF2 and IE7 Weird, far out, lame examples, minor nuances, I know... I've been experimenting with a page recently that has brought up these issues and I'll have it on my astahost page pretty soon http://jaymash.astahost.com... But i'm sure whatever browser you're not designing in is where your own issues will show up.

lol Germans use them more often? didn't know that.
QUOTE lol Germans use them more often? didn't know that. I think they capitalize the beginning of every noun or something. I have used the big three browsers (IE, Firefox, Opera) and they're all installed just in case I need to do cross-browser testing. I have to say that if you're looking for speed, go for Opera. It's the fastest--Firefox takes forever to startup; even IE is faster at loading than Firefox. Opera (shockingly), also has Adblock. (I believe it came with version 9.) It's under the alias of the content blocker, as Opera is still run by a commercial company who can't endorse advertisements. For more information, see: http://operawiki.info/OperaAdblock If you're looking for something akin to Gmail manager in Opera, you can just subscribe to Gmail's RSS feed and let Opera automatically notify you whenever you have new mail messages. That being said, my main browser is still Firefox as Opera still doesn't have many things that I really need. For instance, it's javascript support isn't exactly up to par--I am unable to load Zoho writer on it. Moreover, it doesn't have something similar to FireFTP or Chatzilla, all of which make my life much, much easier.
I believe that firefox is still the best browser i used Opera last year for about a month and i found it slower than firefox.
As far as browsers go, I prefer Opera. The interface is lovely on my mac and it loads the forums 2x faster then firefox (which by the way really kills on my computer, as far as speed and memory goes.) and as for Safari, :l That should explain itself.
I use Firefox almost exclusively because more web developers take Firefox into consideration than Opera or Safari. I don't even talk about IE because it is so unstable and also does not adhere to conventions correctly. Most web applications work for Firefox now, but I cannot say the same about Opera and Safari, but things are getting better with the advent of AJAX. Web developers are starting to build applications that are truly cross-platform, but until then, I will use a bit higher-profile browser like Firefox than Opera or Safari. some people are saying that opera is faster, some say firfox is faster, some say safari. but what i think is that the fastness depends on a lot of aspects as given below. the difference comes into account in the way they load (not how they interpret) the web page. firfox loads the images first and then the texts with their styles simultaneously. but opera loads the texts then their styles and then only the images. 1. type of content you want to browse. if you are browsing mainly text contents then firefox seems to be bit slower than opera. 2. type of server you are browsign. In the server if the images are randomly placed and these images are going to be parsed then obviously firefox and also opera takes some time. but in between firefox and opera, opera loads bit slower. i used to use IE for surfing. but when i came across the firfox it seemed to be better in every aspects, excluding the case of very slower connections. in slower internet connections IE loads faster then firefox. if the speed is very slow then you can find out that IE is noticiably faster then firefox. all my thinking were changed when i tried opera. it has a lot of facilities in addition to those present in firefox. Opera Mini (for mobile) is really great. It's the best browser to view HTML files. it also possess zoom functionality. Really I am in love with my opera browser. though i have installed both firefox and opera, but i use opera mainly. i use firefox hardly.
