I've had problems with my CD/DVD drive for ages now. That too was due to a OS software update which caused conflicts with my drive. As for Nero... I've never got it to work! lol

I was using NERO 6, but I found that NER 5 have one advantage. I always use CD-RW discs and most of them sometimes be in bad condition and when you add this disc to CD-ROM and then my computer crash
but I find tha in NERO 5 you can choise Erase Disc, put Cd-RW in drive, quickly push Erase and after ersing my CD-RW works again. When I updated my NERO 5 to NERO 6 I couldn`t do this as a result I use NERO 5 ):

Sorry if this is irrelevant to you, but I just want to say that if you're having frequent problems with Nero (like I used to have), why don't you try out this program called CD Burner XP, which is found at www.cdburner.se
It's like Nero very much but it is much more stable, and is 100% free to download and use. It's won many awards and I recommend it highly for Windows users.
Yeah i sometines have the same problem. mine usualy happens because my burner doesnt support some of the advanced options i chose.
if your just adding variouse files then you can use windows built in burner to.
ah, i have had much the same trouble, with disks spinning down while working, in all sorts of stuff. I use windowsXP, and while installing a game, or buring a CD (Roxio, Nero), it will randomly spin down, stop reading, and the program that was using it will crash. Ive never figured out why.
hey try to update your cd-rw's firmware. Goto manufacturer's webpage and try to find firmware for your cd-rw, and as pleople said here update your version of nero, that should help.
There are so many problems you could have burning a CD that does not relate to Nero or the cd burning software that it will make your head spin.
A lot of us upgrade our OS but forget that the hardware when developed was meant for the current OS when the hardware was manufactured. So we end up with half updated systems. Then there are the products that barely meet the legal required standard that we buy cheap and expect to perform miracles. So what really could be the problem? Anything form buffer under run problems with the cd-rom, poor quality cds, not enough hard drive space to write the data to for transfer, or incorrectly configured software. And the list goes on and on. Always read warning messages and look closely at the errors, they always tell a story. Latest Entries

uninstall/install problems
Nero Problems I bought the nero 8 essentials cd w/no manual from ebay awhile back installed it and when I tried to play a movie I had burned to the computer it tells me I don't have ?? don't remember the file so I uninstalled it and tried putting nero 7 back in and it keeps telling me that (There is already a newer nero application on your system please uninstall newer application & start install again. I went to control panel/programs & features/unistall and check to see if any nero was there and I don't see anything so my question is why is it still telling me that there is a newer application still installed? Nero 8 wont allow me to bring up files
Nero Problems Nero 8 was working till the other day. When I go to burn a DVD and click on the add file button it now brings up a little box instead of the larger box where the files are.So now I cannot bring anything over to be burnt. This has got me stumped. Can anyone give me some help on this. -question by Garth

Nero Problems I think Nero is an outlaw company that rips people off with reverse pirating of your computer. I have a Nero burning program Express 6.6.0. (they probably meant 666 when the wrote it)and it has been a nightmare since I installed it. The latest is, When I backed up my miles on a seagate unit, somehow nero attached their extension to every file. Now, when I tried to restore my file to my computer, the computer will not open them. Does anyone have a clue as to how to rid my files of the NCO file extension? Otherwise, I am going to lose a lot of good files. Nero makes it impossibe to get in touch with them for help as they charge $1.29 minute for help. WHAT A RIP-OFF COMPANY! THEY SHOULD BE CLOSED DOWN BY REGULATORS. -reply by Jim Reynolds

Nero Problems Hi,I am using Nero 8 and I have problems when I try to copy a DVD via the image (first to copy on HDD,then on a DVD).My RAM usage goes up as the DVD content is being copied on my HDD...So on about 50% my RAM usage is 90% (!).I got 4GB of RAM btw...Please help me out!
