| | can anyone tell me how do i add a feature to add sub-forums to phpbb forums?
i also want cash mod to work on it..
i tried categories hierarchy but it clashed with cash mod...
doesnt work...
can u ppl suggest something for this? |

i have also had this problem with the sub categories, if anyone knows ow to make them that would be good! also, can someone please explain the cash mod idea! i have read some stuff on it but it still makes no sense! thanks -jimmy

There are a few MODs out there, that allow you to have sub-forums, although they might not work with your current forum, if it is heavily moded. I recommend you wait for phpBB 3 Olympus which natively supports sub-forums to come out of Beta. Incase you still want to try out the Sub Forum MODs, here you go:- Sub Forums MOD (Under Development) http://www.phpbb.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=42505Category Hierarchy MOD (Released) http://www.phpbb.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=87278Beware, these MODs might cause your forum to become inconsistent, I know mine does. Make sure to create backups, before trying these out online.

I'd suggest that you can shift to SMF, it provides unlimited sub-forums. Or wait till the phpBB 3 is released. I've used subforums MOD in phpBB , but they usually get into conflict with other MODs. So it is a risk process. Or get Fully Modded phpBB, it has all the essential MODs that you'd ever require for phpBB prebuilt in them.

I'd use PHPBB3. They have a great sub-forum system. It's all based off forums now, no categories. You can create a forum, and it can either be a category, link, or forum, and you can give it a parent, which is how you use sub-forums

Advanced Electron Forum (1) BuffaloHelp told me about AEF in the shoutbox a while ago now so i thought id download it and try it

Preferred Forum System
So many choices...it's overwhelming (26) I am trying to decide which forum software I should install for my site. I need something free
(obviously) and I need a good choice. I think phpBB works great but I am also interested in trying
IceBB. Simple Machines Forum is time-consuming to configure and I don't like Invision Power
Board (and that isn't free). I have tried testing out the forums at OpenSourceCMS but there
were way too many choices and the forums were just completely overwhelming to try them all out.
Getting into Portals, Blogs and Image Galleries and you'll wonder if you will be able to....

WYSIWYG Html text box ( You can say it Rich Text Editor ). It should be like the one used in

(0) Well, today Ir elised more than ever that my beloved SMF is still the best. Today I was doing some
tests of the new ->SMF convertors, which are amazing in their selfs, first all you need to specify
it the old forum location and the new location, and it will find the database settings and
everything by itself, once its got the data it emptys the SMF forum of its data and then moves the
old data over. If the server load is going to be too large, it does it in small chunks, I think its
500 messages/members/stuff at a time, so large forums will take a while, but the server ....

an alternative to phpbb and ipb (2) http://forumscript.net/ this forum is easily skinnable thorugh a .htm file.. you users do not
have to sign in (i know phpBB and ipb allow guest posting too) it is a very small file and i
don't believe it uses and databases. if my users want a forum for my website, since this is
very easy to skin and isn't too hard to mess with, i'm going to use this one. in the past
i've used phpBB and ipb but i don't really like them as they're too hard to skin and
