I didn't use it. However, I have a question for you : How do you like it (from the demo) compared to phpmyadmin ? Is it nicer or does it have more usful functionnalities than phpmyadmin ? If yes, do you think it's worth to buy it ? Regards Yordan P.S : concerning the topic title, what is "musql" ? Maybe a mistyping for "mysql" ?

Yes Yordan, it MySQL ...soryy..just a typing error. And about NAVCAT, It seems more user friendly than PhpMyAdmin..But when it comes to buying it i needed an opinion of some one who has used its fully functional version so i ll have a better understaning . The demo, as you would know does not show you every thing. Regards.

I've used Navicat before...though to be honest the tools that MySQL AB provides (MySQL Administrator, MySQL Query) are superb. I've never found a task I couldn't manage with one of those 2 tools.

I must agree with you there..Ive tried a few packages also but always seem to come back to the default of MySql query browser and MySQL Admin - again I can say Ive nothing that they cant do when working together.

Even the trial version of Navcat seems to give you decent intuitive, graphical, multi-table query building capabilities, something phpmyadmim does not offer and I could not figure out with mysql query browser. With mysql query browser, I kept dropping the join table onto the button but instead of joining, it would replace the table with the other one in the main text display. Adding tables, dragging and dropping columns on each other to create relational queries may be possible with mysql query browser, but it was not very intuitive to me if so. -Aurelio

Replying to bchuaI agree...I find the GA MySQL query tool is kind of quarky with long statements sometimes...And is sort of a pain to move in and out of...While the NavCat tool feels more like Terratrax a tool I use for MS SQL management. I haven't bought NavCat...Still using the tial, but so far I love it...Though there are still some features on the MySQL query tool that kick ass over the NavCat tool ;-) I will probably buy NavCat though eventually. -reply by Dustin

Navcat For MySQL
I found that SQL is the best tool for managing all MySQL databases, and the price is pretty cheap. The GUI interface designer is relatively new, but they are progressing quickly on it. Also.. The company fixes bug really fast. I was using the database compare tool once, and it was constantly crashing. They had the fix into a beta version and available for download in 2 days! -reply by patrick

Mysql Multiple Tables
(1) It is good practice to use multiple tables to sort out big amounts of data. But once you do that it
becomes increasingly hard to cross reference the tables. Mysql has a little beautiful command
structure that they have added. You can select multiple tables within one sql query. Example of a
basic sql query CODE $sql = "SELECT * FROM table WHERE row=1"; If you noticed
that I selected all of the rows in the table. Normally you will try to not select the entire table
from the database unless you absolutely want all of the table. I would recommend against....

Mysql And User File_priv
(0) HI, I've hit the grain while trying to import file to mysql database - I need to enable file
permissions of the database user but this seems not possible with most of the hosting providers.
The problem is to set file_priv of the database user to "Y" . This is done in the "user" table of
the maintanance database named "mysql". cPanel doesn't allow this. Via the cPanel you can only
allow privileges on table querries but you cannot grant host file privileges to the database user -
which makes querries like: "LOAD DATA INFILE 'filename' INTO TABLE tablen....

Subqueries In Mysql
Using subqueries in MySQL. Very helpful. (1) This method is very useful. I always use this when simple queries of linking two tables is not
enough. This method is putting a query inside a query. Example: SELECT * FROM table1 LEFT JOIN
(SELECT * FROM table2 WHERE field1='id') AS subtable or joining multiple queries SELECT *
FROM (SELECT * FROM table1 WHERE userid='001') AS subtable1 LEFT JOIN (SELECT * FROM table2
WHERE field1='id') AS subtable2 You can join more than two queries depending on the output
you want. If someone already posted this topic here I'm sorry I don't know.....

how to replicate mysql in realtime (4) i dont know if this might be useful to ppl here, but this is a very good knowledge for serious

but then the row is skipped so I don't know there was an error (I'm using linux and SSH).
What's the best way to get my insert statements to put the data in MySQL? Is there anyway that I
can have it tell me if there where any errors all the statements are executed? Thanks for your
help.....
