Yeah you should get msgplus (www.msgpluslive.net), it has a load of features that you'll find usefull especially in your situation.
You can save logs and have them password protected and encrypted. It also comes with it's own log viewer so it is pretty damn hard to hack into your logs. There is also a boss key mode allowing you to hide windows live messenger and disguise it in your system tray at a touch of a button, when you do this windows messenger can send an auto reply to people that try to talk to you when messengers locked.
So in conclusion. To stop people getting into your account and reading logs you can change your password and recovery questions, install messenger plus or make sure that logging is disabled and you delete the logs.
