| | I, along with several others, am making an online game called Galactic Rifts (at the moment).
It is a sci-fi text or graphical based game set in the future where you have to conquer other players and dominate.

Hmmm. The particular link you have given is a forum hosted at InvisionFree (that I believe is presently called ZetaBoards). Am I understanding right? Do you want to create a game where people post their action in a forum, and the game proceed? I am curious as to how, it could be viable to put an almost strategy based game in a forum. Because, I too have tired an endevour like this, but that was for an Roleplaying games. The forum/bulletin-board system is very suited for a RPG game. Or did I get it all wrong? The forum is just for the discussions between the developers, and you would be creating the game from the scratch on another server using PHP? In any case, I think you should give the following link a vist: Almost everything about making a game. I am sure you could contribute some more over there to the discussion and also learn.

The forum is a discussion between developers. We would be creating the game from scratch on a different server (we did have one but that disappeared)

I'm making a php and mySQL text based game by myself. I suggest going to planetsourcecode and searching for ALS (Advance Login System) and customizing it from there. It already has registration, email activation, log in, secured pages, and member levels! (There are pages where member's can go into) It really helped me a lot. Anyways, good luck with the game!

(2) There is a better way to make games than to program them with C++, Pascal, LIMBO (both C and Pascal)
or Visual Basic. You can download Game Maker from http://www.yoyogames.com/make and easily make
your own games, rather than having to learn a programming language. Oh, and another thing is, its
FREE. The version with more features costs money, but this version is FREE! That's right... With
the costly version, you can make 3D Games, etc, but you can still have fun with the free one. I made

Advice About Making A Text Based Game
(9) I got my Astahost account in hopes of making a multi-player, online, text-based game in real time.
What I need help with is the programming side of things, a little advice really. I talk to the
maker of a similar type game that I play, and he suggested I learn PHP with MySQL and ASP, and I
cant really remember if he said anything else. I have been playing around a little with PHP and
only dabbled with MySQL, but I know nothing of ASP except that it stands for Active Server Pages.

I Want To Create A PHP Text Based Web Game
(8) I am new to programming and although HTML and it's similar forms I already know, I would like to
learn PHP but I have no clue where to start. I have been playing this game online for over a year
now, and I have yet to find anything similar, so I want to take a jab at creating it. The game is
