It is very easy to make your own, professional logo in Paint. When I say Paint I mean Microsoft Paint. OK now, let's begin. First off you need a background. I will take this one for example. You can use it if you want to. Now we need to make a color. Double click on one of the colors at the bottom of the page. Click on "Custom Colors" and make a color that fits good with your background. Once your done, continue on. Now, you need to make a text. First off, search Google for a cool font. Then, install it on your computer. Now that your ready, read this. Select the "Text" option under the panel to the right. Make a square that covers the whole background. Select the bottom "Picture" on the right side after you have made the square. (See where the cursor is in the picture below.) This will make it so there won't be a white background where the text is. Now, change the font size to something big, that covers the logo. To do that, click on "View" then on "Text Toolbar". Also, change the font to the one you installed and to the color you made. Then. type in the text of your site. EX: If your site was www.popcan.com, type in Pop Can. Once your done, click away to see the finished Logo, or, almost finished. Once your done, add some other picture with it, or something else. Mine was a rushed draft, so that is why there are not many things. Also, you can try to add shadows in it. The more you experiment with Paint, the better you get.

nice tutorial, although it isnt a real logo, you would need a logo for that (logo as in some kind of image, for example the astahost 'H'). and if you would want that, you can't just take something from the internet, it has to be personal, and i would never tell someone to make something like that in paint. secondly, you're not really using paint either, just the text function conclusion: the title is: making a logo in paint, which isnt correct - not making a logo, not in paint. but still, it IS a nice tutorial

Nice tutorial, but making a logo in Paint may not be the best option availiable Something like this would be a better option to make professional looking things. I myself use photoshop, and find it the best for making things look shiny

Good tutorial for a beginner, well done. Not everyone has experience in computers, let alone designing graphics on the computer. Tutorials like this really makes beginner computer users feel less aprehensive(sp) about learning such a fun activity. VG

best program to make logo's would be a vector-based drawing-tool, like illustrator. the reason is simple: once you drew yourself a logo, you can resize it to any size without losing quality. if your company gets really big and you want to make billboards and stuff, it's no problem at all...

QUOTE(friso @ Mar 31 2005, 01:08 AM) nice tutorial, although it isnt a real logo, you would need a logo for that (logo as in some kind of image, for example the astahost 'H'). and if you would want that, you can't just take something from the internet, it has to be personal, and i would never tell someone to make something like that in paint. secondly, you're not really using paint either, just the text function I agree with Friso. You're basically just copying stuff from the net. You grab a photo and paste it in. You grab a cool font and paste it in. A logo would most likely be something special, something that will burn deep into someone's mind without that certain someone thinking "Hey I've seen this font before somewhere..." but more like "Hey wow this is so original!". If i would go with your tutorial I would most rather put lots of different fonts together and make each individual letter different. But other than that, this is a great tutorial for beginning designers. It's a great starting point for Adobe Photoshop users. Once you're done doing what you would do you could play around with the tools here and there and form a cool image!

While I find Photoshop to be the ultimate tool for making logos, I think with proper use Paint can be similarly versatile... especially for a person not that computer savvy. Maybe Gates should change the name of Paint to "Photoshop lite"...

QUOTE lmao, good tutorial for sucha bad little program, well done, ive been lauguing for two whole minutes now. My sentiments exactly. It's for people who basically have no time (read inclination ) to learn photoshop or maybe they just can't afford it. Photoshop is way above paint. MS Paint is a program that I usually use for making some doodles or just a funny looking pic to use as an avatar in Yahoo messenger. But other than that it's only for kids who are new to computers.

I'll admit that I definitely agree with skedad. I wouldn't dream of doing any work from scratch in MS Paint, simply because of how tricky it is to change later. Overall, I'd suggest finding yourself a much nicer drawing package, such as Inkscape (which is open source software) or investing in a pricier (i.e. not free) programme if you find yourself doing a lot of editing. From personal experience, I love Inkscape for both its simplicity and, at the same time, complexity of features. It's got enough to let you do a lot with it, while not so much you're swamped with options as a beginner. Not a bad little vector graphics editor, really. Overall, though, I'm trying to suggest people use pretty much anything than MS Paint, as for vaguely professional work there's more than enough far superior programs out there.

I was getting scared when I saw the topic title. I think if you were doing solid color backing and a symbol... then that would be all for Paint. I only seem to use Paint when it is on someone else's computer and is for screen shot purposes only... I am not being prudish... but Paint is for like... well, not logos for professional usage...
